Hi all, me and a friend were chatting about our pet cats, and it just occurred to me that they are basically our first 'babies'! So I thought I'd post a thread for us to tell each other about our pets. We can share photos and stories, it might be fun and it may distract us temporarily from our broodiness!

So we have two cats, Pekoe (a calico) and Devlin (all black). Teri already had Devlin when I came to Canada, he's almost 3. We got Pekoe last August, she's around 8 months. They are both really different! Devlin likes to play fetch with his toy mouse and other various random objects. He is very chatty and lets us know exactly what he wants. Pekoe is a bit of a princess! I recently got her a harness and leash (and a cute little coat) and started taking her outside in the front garden. She loves it! She rolls around in the snow and chatters at me.

I have attached some photos, because I love them to bits and they are awesome!

Also, how are you going to introduce your pets to the idea of a baby?
:hugs:

These are my babies, Archie is the eldest he is 3 and Moomin is nearly 1. :happydance: They are my little babies, OH got me Archie as a gift when we first got together and Moomin came to us when we found her on the street, she was 3 week old, someone had thrown her from the house because the mum had rejected her and so she was "worth nothing" so we took her in and I became her mummy, weaning her on goats milk. I was detemined she was not to be put to sleeps and now she is my healthy baby.

They both have very different personalities, Archie is very much my OH's in that he listens to OH more and he is very laid back and we call him the old man because he growls at me when I have to get him out of bed in the morning.

Moo is very much the opposite, she is a hyper psycho (we call her bat dog, wonder why?!) :haha: She is mummys girl, only listens to me, is an attention seeking jealous terror but I love her to bits!

Here are the photos !!

Awww, plutosblue! They are so cute! We find that Pekoe listens more to me, and Devlin is more Teri's baby...but they both get along fine. It was so nice that you took Moo in and hand reared her, she must be lucky to have a mommy like you! :hugs:
Thanks for sharing! x

Thankyou Baby Love, she wasn't a planned baby  But sometimes you just have to go with things, I figured she was Gods little gift to me so I could hold out TTC since I was going loopy! Haha

I'm not sure how I intend to introduce them to LO.. I think Archie will be ok, since he is used to being in the background a little (Moo takes up most of my time unfortantely since she is naughty!) But I don't know how Moo will cope since she is very jealous.. But then you never know, dogs and cats know what babies are! Archie always crouches to make himself reaaaally small when little kiddies go to pet him!

I suppose we will come to those crossroads when we need to. We have a cat too but he is my brothers and is rather unsociable unless he wants feeding.

I agree with you about them knowing what babies are...I think our cats will be fine; a few times we've had a small baby in the house and they've run away and hidden themselves, but I think in time they'll come around with our baby...it's a shame your brother's cat is unsociable! When cats are more social they can be so cute and funny! Have you always been more of a 'dog person'? I grew up with kitties so I guess that's what I'm used to :winkwink:

Not really, I mean when I was young I never had cats or dogs (apart from when I was really young but I don't remember) I guess I prefer dogs, just because they are more needy then cats and I like to be needed

Plus you can do more with dogs then you can with cats I think, like take them for walks and teach them tricks. But I like cats too, sometimes the cat will come for a cuddle and I willfully oblige, until he sinks his claws into my skin

How about yourself?

Aww I love your cats so cute, I have three cats, two girls - Arthur and Kit and one little boy called Onion.

I'm such a cat lover. We actually have a dog, a parakeet, and 5 cats! 4 of those cats are technically mine!!

We have:
Monster: about 4 years ago, or so, I was at home alone because we didn't have school. The window in our dining room was open and I could hear what sounded like a cat mewing outside. So when I went to investigate, there was a tiny baby kitten that, I think, somebody had dropped off in our yard. I spent hours trying to catch her and my mom was forced to let me keep her. Hehe. She's a tiny kitty.

Gordy: Like... gordo... for fat? Haha. We tend to have stray cats hang out in our garage. He used to be this tiny little orange kitten, shy as can be. Then he started figuring out how to get inside and eat our cat food. He gradually became more and more friendly - and FAT! Now he's the laziest cat I have ever seen. And his belly waddles as he walks.

Annie: Annie is my baby. A lady I used to work with had found some tiny kittens who's mom had abandoned them, or had died. She brought me one kitty, which unfortuneatly didn't life. The 2nd one, however, did. I fed that little girl through a syringe with baby formula for about a month. I'd get up at 2am on school nights, even, to feed her. She slept in a box in my room and sometimes would even find her way into my bed. Then she grew up and is now about a year and a half. And she's since had babies of her own! She had six kittens last June.

The babies: My 10 year old sister named them Fishbone and Chunky. Don't ask me why! They are exact twins and are very difficult to tell apart unless they are together. They are two of Annie's babies. The only males out of the litter we couldn't find a home for. So we kept them. :)

The pictures are: gordy and babies. They're kind of old, I don't have very good ones on my laptop. or very many.

Ahhh! I love my furbabies! I have 1 year old kitty, Sophie Belle, and a 7 year old Lhasa Apso, Teddy. I know I am ready for kids because I was hanging outside of a store today, holding Teddy like a baby and singing to him while rocking him. I'm glad he loves the attention!

Awww, I love all your 'furbabies'! It's funny how we tend to be a cat OR dog person predominantly, isn't it?! I am a cat person because I grew up with cats, and they seem to 'understand' me...Our cats are like little people, they love attention and they chat to us all the time!

Damita, your kitties are so beautiful! We technically have a third cat but he's not ours, he's our friend's (we live in his basement)...

Awww your furbabies are so cute! I am a cat person myself and my OH is a dog person so we have both.

Here is Pippa. Disclaimer: No Baby Borns were harmed in this picture!

I got Pippa when Aimee was 3 so she is used to young children from an early age. She likes to lay beside me on the sofa a lot so she has found it hard because obviously she was not allowed up when Jason is on the sofa. She is 3 now and quite possibly a grandmother. She had two sets of kittens before being spayed.

I miss the kittens!

Did you ever watch catdog? Well this is...

Oh Pippa and her kittens are the cutest thing ever! They look just like Pekoe did when she was younger! I love calicos, they're like patchwork quilts or something! We haven't had Pekoe spayed yet so maybe we'll let her have a litter before we do...if I can convince my OH lol.

And you're from Hull! Cool. I used to live in Lincoln on my narrowboat. And my ex is from Hull too. Small world, eh?

Oh and catbox! Love it!

Pekoe is such a cute and unique name! I do love the Calico's myself..I always regret not keeping one of the kittens but it just wasn't ideal at the time. Such a shame I do not have pictures of her second litter. She had 3 long haired Tuxedo kittens and 1 long haired ginger tabby kitten. They were gorgeous.

Its good to let your cat have a litter as long as your 100& sure you can find homes. Kittens seem to be very popular in Hull so I never had an issue thankfully. I think it is due to the small terraced houses we have!

It is a small world, seriously I post on this Sim modding forum and I even bumped into a person from Hull on there! :D I have lived in Hull for 6 years now and I don't mind it, despite its rep lol!

:happydance:

Aww I love them all!!!! So gorgeous.

I'm afraid I don't have a Feline or Canine babie but I do have Equine ones.
This is Brandy, a New Forest pony who I have owned for the last 18 years, since she was 6 months old.

And this is Ellie my 17.1HH sweetheart. I've owned her for the last 13 years. My animals all have homes for life.

They are sweet! And they do grow up fast, don't they?! That's what we'll be saying about our babies one day! Sniff sniff...

i give you...clipper!

he's my baby. :cloud9: i got him a year and a half ago. he was at the town shelter, a 10 year old missing teeth and really skinny. when i asked about him, the lady said "oh you don't want him, he's old". (this was a kill shelter) i immediately asked to see him, fell in love, had a few more teeth pulled, and took him home. several baths later, he has turned out to be such a true loyal find. he loves me and i love him...he's sleeping next to me as i type this! :happydance:

this is mocha and clementine. <3 (they're ferrets!)

mocha is staring at the camera, clementine is sleeping in the hammock <3 we thought they hated eachother and had them in separate cages for two years before just letting them attack eachother once or twice before falling in love with eachother. now, they're cagemates :)

gotta love our furbabies for keeping us broody but sane!

Here's my dog. I don't want to say the name because someone on this site has a baby with the same name... She is just the sweetest thing.
