My hubby and had been trying for about 4 years on and off with zero success. We had 2 x IUIs before I was diagnosed with moderate endometriosis in November 08 and in April this year we failed our first IVF cycle.

I was feeling pretty down about our future prospects having failed with assisted conception  but luckily we went on holiday straight away and that took my mind off everything. We currently live in New Zealand and the holiday was home to the UK so being around family was just what the doctor ordered.

There was a lot of socialising, drinking - a wedding, murder mystery evening, reunion, trips to Paris and Hong Kong. We just relaxed and enjoyed ourselves and although we were both tired (and very jetlagged!) when we got back, it was soooooooo worth it. I also confded in my mum-in-law and best friend about what we'd been going through, which took a weight off my shoulders.

Anyway, I reckoned I would be due for AF around the 7th July (maybe later due to the disruptions of travel) but when it hadn't arrived by the 11th, it got me wondering.... I have textbook cycles of 28 days and for me to be that late was unusual. I was going to wait another week before doing a test but I already had one in my drawer so buckled the same day. And then I almost buckled because it gave me a :bfp: I was a wreck!! All I could think about was all the things I'd done wrong:

*Travelled
*Had a spa
*Drank coffee for the first time
*Drank alcohol

...the list goes on!

So that was over a month ago and the last 30 days have been eventful - spotting, cramping, wind, sickness, sore bbs....etc... but I've had two scans and all looks fine. I am wishing the time away to our next u/s though (Sept 4).

I really hope this gives some ladies some hope. I know it always feels like you're the only one going through this and to some extent that's true (it's never exactly the same for any one individual). But I always believed I would conceive naturally and it happened, when I least expected it.

Baby dust to you all :dust:

Congrats! How exciting and hope filled.

Thank you. It just goes to show it can happen against the odds. My best friend went through exactly the same thing and had a baby boy in January.

Hope it works out for you too Blue12 :)

Thanks guys...what lovely messages to wake up to. Yes, would recommend relaxing (although can't encourage you to go as far as I did else that would be irresponsible of me!!)

Things are going well so far, seen the bubba twice on u/s. Can't wait for Sept 4 (12 week scan) so I can relax a bit. At the moment I'm flinching at every twinge!!!

Good luck with everything and I look forward to reading your stories here very soon.

xxxxx

Congratulations girl!!!!!!! Wishing you a VERY happy and healthy 9 months!!!!!!!!!

Hi what a beautiful story! I have never given up coffee or alcohol through 16 months of ttc. I eat healthily and exercise though. My DH has sperm antibodies and I'm 40, so some factors are against us. But I am starting a super duper health kick tomorrow and giving up both those things, but your story shows you just never know. I have heard the process of IVF can help things. Two people I know conceived naturally after treatments. But who knows? Anyway, that's wonderful news. Congratulations. xx

Your scan pictures are amazing! I wish I had some of those to show off. Hopefully it will happen soon.

Take care.
