Anyone had experience with the outpatient prostaglandin gels? I've been told by my doctor that we are doing this tomorrow night at 8. I don't really know what to expect but from what I understand it will help to make my cervix more favorable for induction. If I do not have her before I'm being induced on my due date, the 1st.

I'm being induced because of issues with fluid levels. The last scan showed that they are now normal but my fundal height has been all over and doctor thinks its best I don't go overdue. I'm also quite miserable so I have no problem with this.

Again, has anyone had experience with the gels as an outpatient procedure?

Thanks!

I had it in the hospital and wouldn't want to leave once it's inserted. The last dose that finally really got things started gave me constant contractions and I delivered 2 hours later. I would be afraid I wouldn't make it back to the hospital as no one thought I was anywhere close to delivering when she arrived.

Thanks for your response! How many applications did they do? I think they will only give me one.... I'm not sure though.

Here once you have the pessary you can't go home. I only needed one to send me into labour

I wonder if its a lesser strength or something? Certainly hospitals wouldn't offer this if it wasn't safe to go home? I'm sure I will stay and be monitored for some amount of time but not sure how long. My doctor scheduled it for today because she's going to be the doc on call through the weekend and said there was a chance I would deliver after.

I guess I will figure it all out tonight. Would love it if it sent me into labor!
