Hey guys. I am 41+5 pregnant and really dont want an induction! My periods were always irregular, and my growth scan was done at 15 weeks, instead of 12. my doctor acts like its fine, but everybody else thinks I am completely stupid! Thoughts?

Personally, I wouldn't go over 10 days past due date.

Although you may have irregular periods, etc, if you leave baby in the placenta too long it can start to disintegrate, which will result in a still born birth.

Better safe than sorry. :nope:

I agree with vinteenage, I wouldn't persnoally go past the 10 day mark, as that could be dangerous, not trying to scare you though hun :flower:

I'd be majorly scared about the potential risks of going overdue but having said that, inductions are supposed to be not nice and 'the baby will come when its ready'. If you decline an induction chances are you will see the midwife more often than not and they will look ut for signs of complications. Its your choice though at the end of the day, do what you want to do, the doctors can only advise you of possible complications and what they would prefer you to do but they cant make you. Hope your baby comes soon either way :flower:

If your doctor is okay with you waiting I would be too. I dont want to be induced either. I trust my body to know when it's ready to give birth. There are also tons of risks associated with induction, not just with going overdue.

I had to be induced due to bleeding, babys heartbeat being way to fast and having regular strong contractions but not feeling anything. It's not a pleasant experience what so ever and you basically get chucked in the deep end - no gradual build up to get used to it etc - so I can understand you not wanting to be induced.
However, I'd be too scared to go too long overdue because the placenta can disintegrate and stop working as efficiently, putting LO at risk. I know it's best to let baby come when they are ready, but sometimes baby's may never be ready. My LO would never have been ready to come naturally due to positioning and a small pelvic arch.

At the end of the day you have to really think about it and if you do decide against induction I'd be wanting as many checks as possible for yourself and LO in order to make sure everything is still working fine :)

I was induced at 11 days overdue, it wasn't so bad and I was glad to have my baby in the end :D x
