As someone who is overweight herself, I would NEVER say that weight doesn't matter. Of course it does. Once you get into the whole TTC business, it's no longer just your life that's involved, but your (future) baby's as well. There are several things that can go wrong with pregnancy and there are several things that can happen to the baby.
This doesn't mean that overweight or obese people should not have babies, it just means that they need to be responsible for their decisions and make sure they're doing their best to prevent any and all things that can be prevented. This includes taking things OUT from under-the-carpet area and admitting to themselves that they really are overweight and/or obese and that it is likely their fault that they are there. It's not something that needs to be shrugged off and it's not something that will resolve itself on its own.
Sometimes, this includes help from a good doctor, too, and a good doctor is usually one of those who DO mention weight and weight-related problems, even though they often sound harsh. Contrary to the popular belief, I would never replace a doctor who is honest and concerned with one who would pat me on the back and offer me an extra cookie to save the day and relieve my troubles.
But then, that's me. I am fully aware that I usually go against the flow (especially on this forum) when it comes to weight and TTC. I still like to share my opinion.
Yup, we're trying to have a baby too and the fact we still don't have one (6 months later, that is) is not in any way related to my weight. We're dealing with, more than likely, idiopatic infertility.
At the same time, I am healthy and steadily losing weight. For years. It can be done, it just doesn't include a magic pill and a pile of food.
Good luck!
