Please excuse me if there is already a thread about this but I was not able to find much. I was trying to figure out if there is a differnce between Ovidrel and Novarel for a trigger shot. Last month I took Novarel for my IUI and I was nervous about having to mix the powder wtih the water. This month I asked for Ovidrel because it is prefilled.

Has anyone had any negative experiences with one vs the other. Or are they pretty much the same thing and do they work the same as far as making you ovulate?

Ovidrel is not as strong as Novarel. Ovidrel is subcutaneous and you inject in your stomach. It is a prefilled syringe, as you know. Novarel has to be mixed with Saline and is an intramuscular injection (usually in the butt). Novarel is usually between 5000 and 10000mcg as prescribed, and Ovidrel is usually only 250mcg.

They both do what they are suppose to as in releasing the eggs and not much difference. 250ug ovidrel is equal to 6500 and leaves a little quicker then the other. I like the prefilled syringe and Sub-q much better. However, some do give it IM with ovidrel.
