Ovulation test HELP!! I need info

I have never used an ovulation test. I currently stopped depo after using it a year 2 months ago. I never had periods on the shot. About a week before I stopped takong my depo I began light spotting. I continued doing this for 2 weeks (4 days after missing my shot). They told me to consider that a period. So since I stopped spotting on Nov 7, 2011 I have yet to have a period so how do I know when I'm ovulating. I know I can buy ovulation tests but if I don't have a period am I ovulating? i'm TTC baby #2. I want info on ovulation tests, pre seed and basal body temp. I'm new to this. Please help!!!
