A judge has decided to weaken the rules on paedophiles being allowed to have unsupervised visits with their children as they have a right to a family.

For me as a parent this has me slightly worried for a whole variety of reasons.

What happens when the children of the convicted paedophile brings friends home or boyfriends/girlfriend? Will their parents be made aware of the situation?

I must admit that I am only seeing this from one point of view, but at the minute I just can't see it any other way than this being a bad move by the law.

What are your views on this?

It does seem lately that a lot of laws are being bent and changed to suit peoples human rights, I think the whole human rights bandwagon is getting beyond a joke now!!

That is a very short-sighted policy on the judge's part. Sexual abuse is such a complex thing and those that commit the abuse doubly so. Just because they have been to prison does not mean they are fully rehabilitated, and allowing them unsupervised access to children is just putting children's lives at risk willy nilly. Awful.

I don't agree with it what so ever, most sexual abuse happens within the family.

To be honest i think they should be castrated

I think its stupid!! This whole human rights shite is going way tooo far.. You cant do this my human rights.. I want this is my human right!! Letting Pedo's near children is a human right for the pedo? What about the child for god sake their human rights to not be abused!

^^^ This.

So what about a child's right to NOT be molested and screwed up for life?

I think they should have a right to family life because of their rights and their child's rights, however I think being with your children unsupervised is a privilege and if your convicted for crimes of abuse against whoever you lose this privilege and should only get supervised access so that the child can get to know their parent, good or bad that child will still see them as mum/dad and might want to know them, I think access is a right unless they've harmed the child, how they gain this access isn't, they lost that right when they did something so awful.

peadophiles give up their rights when they sexually abuse children :nope: it really gets to me this does its disgusting. Why the hell should they be given the privillege of seeing their children at all, how can they be safe alone with them.

<3

Dont children have the rights to be safe from people like this? always seems to suit the abuser these human rights things.

disgusting!

its rediculas laws like this that dont give a flying fuck about the childs human rights!

Now I dont see how this is right

My Los has a direct relative that is on 'the list' for this crime. SS made is very clear that I was to take her no where near him (not that I bloody would go near the sick fucker myself! Let alone Lo) Or I would face a case of neglect.

So I dont see how this is happening. When SS have a VERY clear policy on it

I am glad I am not alone here, I was really shocked when I read the article. This judge is clearly out of touch with reality. Letting convicted paedophiles have unsupervised access to children is terrible.

I think when the choose to do what they did they let go of their right for human rights.

Its amazing this country just lets this rubbish happen!

NOPE. Didn't read all the responses but if you want to talk about human rights, what about the human rights of the child? I think it's totally irresponsible to expose an innocent child to a situation that could possibly be abusive. I get the everyone has rights, but that's not worth the risk and the child is the one who would suffer ultimately.

I don't support unsupervised visit, but if the child wasn't harm by them, I don't see why they can't see their parents supervised. My niece still misses her dad (my ex-brother-in-law) even though he went to jail for child porns on the computer.

I think it's disgusting.

Imagine your babies other parent being convicted f the rape of a child of a similar age to your LO. Would you want your child around them after that?? Didn't think so! I think the judge needs to open their eyes to be honest.

I think the idea of allowing a convicted paedophile unsupervised access is ridiculous what if he does onto abuse that child aswell/ again what would they say then???

I'm soo sick of this human rights rubbish its just an excuse for people to get off lightly

I really hate the UK justice system, its the most screwed up, human rights? These are NOT humans, paedophiles are scum and dirt of the world. It's always the abuser who seems to be put first instead of the victims, it's so sad, UK justice system, fix the f*** up! Paedos, rapists and killers must bloody love this country. It's gone to absolute crap.
