Just wondered if anyone else has had a kind of cramp like pain that seems to be on one side or the other. It shoots down my bum (cheek) and then into the back of my thigh. I stood up from the sofa last night and it's a good job OH was stood near me as my leg didn't want to work at all and I had to make a grab for him so I didn't fall over! :dohh:

I've been told what I'm describing is kind of like sciatica but I dunno?!? Think it might be caused by bean pressing against some nerve or my spine??

Any reponse will be appreciated whether it be a fellow sufferer lol or even some way to help when this strikes!

Thanks muchly :flower: xxxxxxxxx

This is my third baby and I have the same thing. It was very bad with my second baby. It is most likely sciatica. I can be walking along just fine and my leg will just give out! LOL. It's quite painful for me and extremely hard to sit, sleep or walk. But it comes and goes.

**Edit** My OH rubs the area vigorously with his hands and that seems to help alleviate the pain a bit. But the pain can be so deep in your body it's hard to massage out.

I've had this problem with this pregnancy and my last, sciatica. It is quite a nuisance, I hav had to have OH help me off the toilet as my legs gave out on me.

I was going to make a post about this also as ive had this for several weeks.

getting up from sitting is very painful and just walking is tough as it aches all the time, turning over in bed is not easy and i think it wll just get worse as the baby grows.

I will be mentioning this to my consultant next week,i think it may be the hormones softening the bones or something(pelvic girdle pain).
Mine is all on the left side from the bum right down to my ankle.:growlmad:

I've got this too!! It's worse when I lie down and I can't get up OH has to pull me up. Or if I stretch my legs out I can't lift them up it's sooo painful! Oh well it's all worth it!

Thanks for the replies ladies. I'm ok today but this does come and go so I'm thinking the baby is enjoying playing on my nerves lol. And it is worth it. I just hope I don't get it tomorrow cos I'm going to see Muse play at Old trafford cricket ground!! xx

I kept getting it at Silverstone when I went for F1, it was awkward sleeping on the blow up bed in the tent because I couldn't get up :haha: hope it's ok for you tomorrow!

Just noticed you're from notts that's really close to me :)

I have this I went to docs today and was told it's my pelvis softening!!
I will be walking like mr soft in the softmints advert!

I keep having this on and off too.

My sister told me a pilates move that I have found at least eases it for a bit..........stand with your feet heel to heel..toes facing away from each other at opposite ends and then just kind of tiptoe....lifting your heels off the floor, and then go back down. I hope this makes sense, and helps. x

I have been getting this too on and off for a few days - definitely sciatic pain - luckily mine hasn't been that bad and not lasted too long - with ds1 is was horrendous.

I thought I was the only one, I had it for a week but its gone now but it was so horrible.

Ive had rhis a few times since getting preg and it soooo painful..I went to the doc who told me its prob sciatica but he wouldnt give me anything for it...It stops me completely in my tracks and its always when I'm busy and got lotsa stuff to do..Does anyone know if we can take something for it?

There isn't really anything to take for it but you can ask your doctor to brefer you to see a physiotherapist or massage therapist.

Im so glad to see this thread and so many sufferers (in a nice way) I just told dp that it was obviously more common than i thought, i too thought i was the only one who got this. Hope it gets better for us soon xx
