So I've just recently started feeling any letdown at all. But it seems to be getting increasingly painful. Is this a sign that something is wrong? I've already had mastitis and am terrified of getting another breast infection. :( Is there something I can do to minimize the feeling?

I don't find it particularly comfortable either but it is not unbearable (doesn't last very long for me) and it is nice knowing that some milk is coming. I doubt that you can do something about it.

I don't like the letdown feeling either.. My mom always says how much she loved it when she BF me but I'm not a fan of the tingling uncomfortable feeling!

Oh it's more than uncomfortable; it feels like someone is kicking me in the boobs. :( I actually dread it!

I read that a painful letdown can mean a clogged duct, but it happens equally on both sides so I don't think that's it. Maybe I'm just a wimp.

Hmm, I've often wondered about this - and in the beginning when we kept getting thrush the letdown seemed to get more painful, although could have been coincidence. I've always had strong letdown and even now it goes in phases as to how uncomfortable/painful it is. Not sure it should feel like you've been kicked in the boobs though.
One thing - my LO was tongue tied and it was toe curlingly painful just after he latched - could it be something like that? Can you/have you sought support to check latch etc?
Hugs - I know it's. Horrible when it hurts x

Oh, and you're not a wimp. Breast feeding and being a wimp don't go together in my experience :)

I have a painful letdown too. Some times it's worse than others. I don't have any other symptoms of anything wrong though, and the pain goes as quickly as it comes.

Sorry I've no answers, but wanted to say that you aren't alone.

I used to have a painful let down, though it was more uncomfortable than actual pain. It went away after a few months, though, and now I don't even feel let down. So hang in there and it will hopefully start improving!

I never felt it at first, then a few weeks in i wondered what was going on! it doesnt seem so bad as time has gone on, but i do get a powerful one now and again. Ive been bf 9 months :flower:
