passport.. does FOB need to sign?

basically i want to get mine & LOs passport sorted as we want to go away.

does FOB need to sign her passport?

hes on her birth cert but has no contact with her (for 13 months now), doesnt pay maintenance, he isnt even allowed to contact me so i dont even know how to go about if he does need to sign as i dont even know where he is.. xx

Don't think so sweetie. Can't say exactly for sure because I got my LO's passport done without his Dad's signature etc but then he is not on his birth cert because he refused to do it (thank god!) so..... ring the passport office, they were very helpful with me and they will tell you exactly what is required to get LO's passport done.

No he doesn't. Only one parent is required. My darling OH's b*%&h of an ex managed to do just this to take his child to another country!

You don't need his permission.

wow things must be different in the UK. here in mexico, USA, and brazil you need to have both parents signature as long as they are on the birth certificate

i thought this applied for UK too but apparently not, have looked on the website & it says if FOB isnt around then he doesnt need to sign. x

Aw that sucks! How on earth would a Mummy be able to take her baby on holiday or out the country if the FOB has done a runner and the Mum can't find him/get hold of him etc?. That's unfair for you.
