Hi,
I wanted to share my story with you all. I know how frustrating and disappointing it is to see the arrive every month. Or not so frequently as well! But there is a happy ending waiting for you all!
We started TTC after our wedding in February 2007. Up until this point i was on the pill, so i didn't expect miracles to happen quickly. At first the arrived about every 3 weeks, which i thought was brilliant cause it meant we had more chances to try! I started trying to be a bit healthier, to exercise more and to encourage the OH to wear loose fitting boxers! After about 6 months my periods started to become a little more irregular. Sometimes i could wait 3 months for one (one memorable time it was closer to 4 months!) and sometimes it was 3 weeks again. I remembered this being the case before i went on the pill so i just assumed this was my body and how it worked.
We carried on like this for about a year, and after some serious persuasion i got my OH to accompany me to the doctors. We were tested for the normal things, hormone levels etc. He could see nothing obvious so referred us to a specialist. The first time we saw the specialist (quite quickly, but in December 2008) he immediately diagnosed PCOS for me. There was nothing wrong with my OH, which i was really greatful for. We were given some pills to bring on the as i hadn't bled for about 3 months at this point. Then he gave me Clomid. I was to take it day 2-6 and go back in for a scan at 8 days.
The first month (Jan 09) i took 50mg, 1 tablet, a day and nothing happened at the scan. The second month was 100mg, 2 tablets, a day and all that happened was i grew a huge cyst! Luckily this had gone at the beginning of my next cycle and i was able to take 150mg, 3 tablets, a day in March 09. They scanned me a couple of times (about day 8, 12 and 16) and then sent me for progesterone tests. All came back looking like i had finally ovulated! i was so happy that my body could do it, and just faced the 2ww.
I tested on day 31, which would be 14 days after they thought i ovulated and got a . I tested 2 days later and got another , so i thought we were looking at another month of 150mg. However, before i took my tablets to make me bleed on day 38 i took another test, to be sure. And there it was. My ! Since then all has been well in all the check ups etc i have been to. i am now 15 weeks and very excited about meeting tiny in December.
I am a big fan of Clomid and would recommend it to anyone, it worked so well for us! After 2 years of trying we were starting to think we weren't meant to be parents, but we just needed a little help to sort out my hormones etc. My OH has always said i can't do things the easy way...!
I hope to read your success stories on here really soon
