PCOS & Metformin

I have PCOS. I was able to lose about 50lbs over three years ago, and the PCOS sort of "disappeared". Well its back. My fertility specialist confirmed it was back about 9 months ago. However he hasn't put me on metformin, in fact, I've never been on metformin.

Recently I've put on about 12lbs in a month and a half, I have horrible sugar cravings, and I ALWAYS feel hungry! I tried to work out for a good stretch of time, watched what I ate etc. but the weight never came off. My periods cycles are getting longer. So I made an appointment with my FS for next Monday as I want to see about the possibility of him putting me on metformin. We are going for our second IUI in November, so I'd like to see if Metformin, with the clomid and IUI will be suitable for me.

Anyone else have PCOS and on Metformin and clomid? anyone have PCOS and never been put on Metformin? is metformin making a difference for anyone with PCOS?

I feel like I'm losing control of my body lately.

I have PCOS and I am on metformin. I am a little over weight in my belly but not obese. I was put on metformin because my tests showed I have insulin resistance. I tried clomid initially (before i was put on metformin) and it did nothing for me. My PCOS causes me to not ovulate. The metformin has made me ovulate but it has not helped me lose weight. I have not had any side effects from it. I did one IUI and one IVF and they both failed. We are all different. I know some people who have had success with clomid and other's, like myself, who did not. I wish you the best of luck.

I have pcos and also on meformin within 7 days of me taking it I ovulated then had a good period, I'm on it because my hormones are all over the place and have been for years, I had to ask my gp to put me on it, we are currently ttc #3 the only side effects I've had was diarrhea and nausea
But after the first 3 weeks I feel great my hormones have calmed down acne is clearing so fingers crossed I get a bfp soon

I've also got PCOS, and was put on Metformin in August. Up until last week, I was on 1000 mg doses of the metformin, and it caused me to ovulate and have a real period in August and last month. It was very very heavy for the first 2 days (as I hadn't ovulated or had any sort of period for almost 9 months), but lasted 5 days like my cycles used to.

I've been uped to 1500 mg of metformin now, and my period is 2 days late from when it should have happened based on my last 2 MPs. I'm freaking out, because I wonder if the metformin is working. I got a positive OPK, and had all of my ovulation symptoms (o pain, ewcm, etc). I have lost quite a bit of weight though, and my acne and hair growth is much better.

I do NOT have PCOS and was put on Metformin with the idea i MIGHT have insulin resistance even though there was no indication as to that being true other than the fact im overweight All i got was diarrhea and more diarrhea lol. I never lost a single pound while on it, which is kind of unfortunate
