Hi ladies

Just wondering anyone with PCOS in the UK, when did your GP refer you to gynaecology or similar? My GP said 12 months TTC but I'm not ovulating at all (nothing this year yet) which I think is a bit extreme. Have been TTC since January so 6 months in now.

Got a GP appointment on Monday to try and push for some help. All I got last time was 'lose some weight' so I've been trying hard but to no avail. Think I've actually put weight on!

TIA x

It took us nearly two years to get DD#2 and I have PCOS. Doctors were no help whatsoever! Told me too lose weight. In the end I just admitted defeat and had just got use to the idea of only 1 child when BAM! I found out I was pregnant just before our wedding day. I was 19 weeks pregnant when i got married. I found that when I just stopped thinking about another baby and accepted it, it happened. It may not be any help for you Hun but just wanted to let you know that it does happen, it can just take an awful long time !

:hugs: xxx

Thanks for replying. Keeping my fingers crossed you're not waiting as long this time x

After I commented on the PCOS thread I tried to find some recommendations of how long to wait before seeing a doctor.

I found this on the family planning UK website -
If you are over 35 or if you have any known medical or fertility problems you may be referred for help after six months

If you know your cycles are irregular, you're not ovulating or you've been diagnosed with PCOS, I wouldn't wait. I think we've been trying about the same length of time and I started Metformin after 6 months and we are seeing a gynaecologist in the next month or so. I live in a country with a public health system like the UK so probably similar things apply. Good luck :)

Thank you Sarah. I will push for it on Monday. I've found guidelines that BMI needs to be over 30 to go down the 'lose weight' road and refuse.

Fingers crossed x
