Hi everyone,

I work at a university so i have a 40 week contract. In essence this means i get 10 weeks off iver the summer, but my salary is split over 12 months so i still get paid for this time.

What i want to know is, as i am due in june if i take a full year of mat leave, go back and then immediately have the 10 weeks off, is it possible i will still be paid? Is there legal impediment to this? Has anyone done it or similar (thinking teachers who've gone back at the start of a school hols, for example) or is it likely i will have to work for say, 6 weeks to get the uni hols off?

Hope this doesn't seem cheeky just if i can have 15 months off with bub then i'm going to take it! TIA :flower:

Hi I went on maternity leave in October half term-I work in a primary school. I am going back in September however I asked when I could go back and get paid for the summer holidays. Technically it is the day before they start but professionally they prefer the week. So I'm doing 3 days the last week of term (as I did 2 hand over days after Oct half term) and I get my full pay back. Several teachers at my school have done similar e.g. 2 days before Xmas hols to get the pay. Tbh I did feel a bit cheeky/guilty but it's the only way I can afford to stay off else I'd prob have to go back after Easter or June half term.
