Just curious. Lucas is still on 4 a day. Not too bothered by this as he only takes 5-6 ounces each bottle at the moment. Just wondering if your babies have naturally dropped to 3 bottles by now? If so when do they take them and how much at each bottle?

Kacie was still taking 4 bottles until 8 months, then I started making a smaller bottle for her mid morning one and bringing the amount down a little bit, and replaced it with snacks instead

Daisy has 4/5 a day. I was talking to my HV the other day as she really is still taking a lot of milk but wont really eat much.. She has about 9oz in the morning then 7oz for each other bottle... she wont take water or hardly any solids but I know she is having a lot of milk for her age x

I wouldnt worry too much Hayley, milk has lots of calories and nutrients in it and I guess is their main food source for the first year anyway. x

Reason I wondered was I was just looking at Annabel Karmels meal planner for 2nd stage weaning and it says milk mid morning, mid afternoon and bed. There's no way Lucas would miss out on a morning bottle yet though. I know theyre all different. Just interesting to see what other babies are doing isnt it. x

Anna will be 8 months next week.

She has 4 or 5 bottles a day - a mix of 3/4/5oz. She has never EVER taken more than 6oz in the one bottle since she was born - dont think she can hold that much in her wee tummy! Unlikely she will drop to just 3 bottles as she will really only take 5oz now at a time

So, about 20/22oz a day in total:flower:

Rebecca's still on 4 bottles (which is a huge reduction as at one point she'd take about 10 bottles of 3oz at a time!!)

She has 1st thing (7 oz), one mid morning (4oz), mid afternoon (6 oz), one before bed (7oz) - approx.

I'm hoping to drop the mid morning one but she still wont take many snacks and I don't want her weight to drop.

Gosh 10 bottles! That mustve been hard going at the time. The problem I am having with Lucas is he wont have a bottle at bedtime (7ish) as hes still full from his tea which is usually 5-530pm. So he ends up waking around 9-11pm for a bottle. No major hassle but wish he'd have as getting him ready for bed.

ive been having a few issues getting enough milk in Kane since we started two meals a day, he normally has milk at 7 , milk at 10 , lunch at 1 dinner at 4 and we fight to get his milk down at 6 before bed as he is still so full (ive tried keeping him up till later but he has a meltdown)

so now hes only having 3 X 5 or 6oz in the day hes started waking at 3a.m as hes hungry arrghhhhhh

anyone got any suggestions? sorry to jump in on your thread EMYJC but while we are all here it saves me starting a repeat thread :hugs:

At 7-8 mths Dino took 3 x 9oz bottles but now he has 8ozs when he wakes, 5ozs after his lunch and 7ozs at bedtime. I gradually reduced the lunchtime feed and then he reduced it himself to 5ozs.

Wouldn't worry too much hun as like you say, milk is their main food source for now x

Is he still gaining weight? Maybe you could try adjusting your timings a little to see if that helps? :hugs:

It was hard at the time looking back. Of course at the time you just get on with it!! My LO had silent reflux so it hurt her to drink and she could only manage a small amount at a time.

I'm finding though that she's regulating her own eating and has set het own routine. I plan to continue to follow her lead and see what happens.

Fitting in all the feeding is tricky isn't it. She's not the fastest eater so if I'm not careful the whole day turns into a continuous feeding session!

no probs. I dont have any suggestions though I'm afraid. x

I know WW1. Keeps you busy fitting it all in. Its bottle at 8 for me, then bfast at 830. Then he always wants a bottle of around 5-6oz at 1130, then lunch at 1230. Then bottle around 4ish then tea at 5. He then goes bed at 7 and wakes for another bottle by 11pm at latest. Which one should I try and reduce down/cut out? x

we do bottle and breakfast at 7.30am mini yoghurt and 7oz.

then at 11.30 he has a full jar of stage 2 food.

2-3pm 7 oz bottle

4-4.30pm a mashed bannana or 2 yoghurts or a yoghurt and banana.

7.30pm 6 oz bottle

xxxxxxxxx

not very exciting but he is happy with what he has so im happy at the moment!!

Your routine looks good for me Rhiannon. I might try and give Lucas lunch at 1130 before he wants his bottle and see what happens. Thatd then help push the 4pm bottle to 2-3 hopefully meaning might want one at bedtime. Worth a try x

Alex dropped from 5 x 8oz to 3 x 8oz bottles last week. He is now on three meals a day now:

0730 - First bottle
0815 - Ready brek with water
1200 - Lunch with water
1500 - Second bottle
1630 - Tea with water
1900 - Last bottle

x

maybe i should add breakfast now? ive been reluctant as hes not having much milk, ive given him lunch at 12 today so an hr earlier than usual so we will see how the rest of the day pans out

how much milk is needed once on 3 meals?

x

I BF when I'm at home and she has bottles of expressed milk when I'm at work and our routine is like this:

7am approx: BF

8am breakfast (usually weetabix, readybrek, cheerios or shreddies)

11ish: 6oz bottle of EBM

1ish: lunch (usually something homemade from the freezer followed by fruit puree or a yoghurt)

3ish: 6oz bottle of EBM

5ish: BF and a small supper (toast, crumpet, yoghurt, rice cakes, sandwich or fruit)

7ish BF before bed

then a couple of Bfs in the night

Since Omar was 6.5 mnths he's been taking around 3 bottles 5-6 oz each. Just recently he started to ask for more at bedtime & for the past 2 nights he started taking 9 oz. I offer him a bottle 2-3 hrs after his breakfast, 2-3 hrs after lunch & 1 bottle at bedtime. He's never been a big drinker & was having 4 bottles only at 12 wks. xx

18-21 oz all what they need at 6+ mnths once they'r on 3 meals. I offer Omar breakfast after gving him few sips of water as he's not keen on taking a bottle when he wakes up (I wait 30 mins after he wakes up). After 2-3 hrs I offer him a bottle, & he takes it with no problems xx
