Hey,

Has anyone dealt with Voda on getting their phone repaired?

I brought it into my local store 26th October as my phone didnt charge - although the charger and usb charged my friends phone (the same model and make) and i explained to them that the charging port must be damaged? the sales person took all the relevant details and said said it'll be ready for collection 2nd November...

Popped into the store on 2nd November only to be told "i didnt get a text informing me bout my phone being ready" i said well 2 things, it states that it'll be ready by the 2nd and the wrong number was taken.

The sales advisor at the shop didnt even mention that i can track it online without me waiting for hours on the phone to check on its progress. Its really getting me angry as i do have a spare phone but the battery dies easily so when i go out i gotta switch it most of the time.

Since 26th October, its been "received at the repair shop" not even updated to say that its in repair. I appreciate that they may be busy but come one now, its almost 2 weeks!!!

Has anyone sent their phone off for repair? did it take long?

The sales adviser shouldn't have told you it would be ready for collection on November 2nd. They have no clue when it will be ready as they don't know the back log that the repair center may have.

They are supposed to advise that it can take 2-4 weeks for the handset to be repaired.

Odds are, if they charging port is damaged it will be put down to physical damage and the repair center will not be able to fix it under warranty. If you have insurance through Vodafone they will fix it through that or charge you around £45 but will contact you first.

It's a but shitty but unfortunately, that's how it goes.

(I have worked for Vodafone since 2007.)

I've sent my phone in for repair but with 3.

I've had nothing but problems mine just keeps turning off fully charged battery and not turning back on for several days and I went into the store to take it back for them to say 'our systems down go the the other one' (all the way across town) so I did who also said their system was down..And to call this number and they'd send me a bag..I called they wouldn't give me a bag to send it back and were telling me all these things to do that I'd already tried and told me to take it into the store. By this point I was really losing it..Went back to the shop another day..System was still down!! So I went to the Carphone Warehouse and they did it there and then simple as that.

They told me 10-14 days for it to come back and that the manufacturer of my phone they don't attempt to repair it they just send a new one and I tracked my repair it went in on 29th October and as of today it's waiting to be shipped back to the store so hopefully I'll have it back by tomorrow.

3 have been an utter nightmare though and from now on I'll be using the carphone warehouse the guys in there are lovely and much more helpful than the rude ignorant people at 3.

Hope you get it back soon I didn't even have a spare phone to use so I've been phoneless for over a week! :(

What Princess Lou said.

I also work for VF and have done for a couple of years. They can not give you a time scale on how long it takes to fix as it depends on several factors.

As for taking the wrong number, they have got to take a correct number in order to book it in for repair under the correct customer account.

Hope you get your phone back soon xxx

Hope you have more luck with yours than I've had with mine! Found out 3 buy phones from India on the utter cheap and they aren't covered by European warranty and apparently it isn't even genuine RIM according to Carphone Warehouse technicians..I rang Three to A. Sort out a proper repair and ask why the hell I've been given a fake phone posing as genuine and they just voided my warranty and refuse to repair it, even though I was told by an assistant Now I have no phone..And I'm paying for a contract I can't use..And they won't let me cancel it.
Spoken to the big boss of 3 who's told me to go to the store on monday and complain about being given wrong information but that still leaves me with no fricking phone!! I'm livid right now I really am. Wonder how many other people they've ripped off x

So sorry to hear that!!! how comes 3 can get away with it? dont they know that the phone will end up with problems down the line? is it a touchscreen? i always find with touch screens that they're more sensitive?

I've had a Blackberry and a Samsung which lasted 2 years+ but now with my Samsung Galaxy it stopped charging after 4 months. I dont know how the law works for cancelling a contract but cant you get someone else involved?

Good luck with yours too hun x

It is yeah it's the newest one. My friend's just got his law degree and told me to email him everything that's happened names dates etc. right from where I first tried to get my phone repaired the first time and he's going to look into it legally for me as there've broke some consumer law somewhere along the line - Though I've no idea about stuff like that so I'm just gonna do as he's asked and let him sort it for me. I'm hoping monday they'll have some way of resolving it and the only way to cancel is if I pay a cancellation charge which is apparently 600 hundred and something (the remainder of all my payments left flus £200 'get out' charge) which I can't afford a month before christmas.x

Legally, all a phone network has to do is provide you with a SIM. If they have provided you with a SIM, the contract stands, regardless of the phone.

It doesn't matter if the phone they gave you is real/fake, working/broken. The phone is not covered by the contract which means the contract is not void.

The only thing to do is complain to consumer rights or trading standards regarding the status of the phone but there is no guarantee you will get anywhere.
