Photography Club

Some really nice fireworks shots posted there :D I missed out again this year, I really had intended on taking some at our local fireworks display but I wasn’t very well (damn sickness still!) and the field was so muddy I don’t think I would’ve wanted to take my tripod there anyway – aaah well never mind there’s always next year.

I’ve started my photography course now, have done two weeks.. As it is a beginners course the other 5 people in the class have no knowledge whatsoever didn’t know what exposure was, didn’t know what an f stop was, had never heard of white balance etc each time the tutor asked “does anyone know what this is” I’d be the only person putting their hand up so I felt a bit like the class geek and eventually stopped doing it

This means the tutor has had to go over everything from scratch which has been quite boring for me as I already know most of it. I’m starting to wonder if really I should’ve gone for the intermediate class now but it’s too late to change. Next week should be better as we are actually going to use our cameras to do some portrait shots in a studio set up which sounds interesting.

Not really had much chance to take any pictures lately but am going to the christening of a close friends son on Sunday and I have offered to take some pictures so hopefully I might be able to get some nice shots while I’m there.

Good to hear you are all well :)

Funnily enough, after nearly 5 years, if someone say's change the f stop, I have no clue how too. Haha!

Good luck on the course, sounds like you will do great anyway.

Oh my gosh. I've been so busy lately i've cpmpletely disowned my B&B family :(

Im ashamed lol

How have you guys been??

I've been really busy with Braden, he's been really sick for a few weeks, but its all cleared up now, and he's back to his screaming self :D

So I thought I would take the time to come on and say Heyyyloooo and upload some new pictures, and those holiday ones I was supposed to do, weeks ago lol. Im so disorganised. It was also my baby sister's 5th birthday recently, so I'll add those pictures too :)

Hope you guys enjoy these :) and please tell me its not just me that see's is... How big is my baby getting?!?! :(

Gorgeous pics! :flower:

hi,

the camera from insurance has finally arrived, was meant to be here last week. i'm not sure that i like it. :( although it does do more than the damaged 1, i think its going to take time to get used to it. i dont seem to be able to add extra lens's though, as the lens hasnt got the screw in rings on it. 1 advantage is that its a £250 camera plus i have an accessory and HD kit included worth £49.99.

Braden's been away with his grandparents this weeks and i miss him like hell :( I've not been able to take any christmassy pictures of him yet :( but hes home tomorrow :D

Thought i'd post some pics that i took when me and OH were doing the last of the decorations :)

Anyone interested in a Sigma 10-20mm (Canon Fit) can contact me - I'm thinking of parting with mine since I'm just not getting out and about with the camera so much as I'd like.

Also in my news: I've been asked to photograph a wedding  I haven't accepted yet though. kinda worried I'll mess up....

I've not picked up my camera in weeks :( We had some bad news and have been dealing with the aftermath of that for the last month.

Am going to try and do some photography over Christmas though, might try and get some shots of my nieces if we go and see them. I think a few people from the photography forum I go on are meeting up in the town where my parents live on the 27th so I might join them as it will give me a reason to get out and take some pictures. I think once I get back in the swing of it I'll be fine - this cold weather doesn't help either really!

Yeah unfortunately we found out at our 12 week scan that our bean had stopped growing at 6 weeks and we'd had an mmc  It has been a rather crap three weeks to say the least - not really felt like picking up the camera (or doing anything else in all honesty). We are through the worst of it now though so looking forward to getting Christmas out of the way and then trying again in the New Year :)

Definitely want to pick up the camera again, was going to head out in the snow with it today but it was far too cold!

Photograph the wedding!!! Would you be using digital? It is a bit scary at first but it's fun.

Yeah, I'd be on my Canon EOS 450D.
Still not said yay or nay though - i need to soon - I just keep worrying that if I don't get good enough pics, they can't ever be re-done. make sense?

Yeah it's a tricky one. I'd simply say no if I was in your position.

I'm doing 2 I think this year, at some point.

what would be your main reason for saying "no" if you were me? :) Just wondering!

I finally picked up my camera again after everything thats been going on. Made the most of our extra day off on Wednesday by going out and taking pictures of the snow :)

I have now got the bug again and am so glad I made the effort to get out there. Now I just need to think of some subjects to shoot and I'll be off again :happydance:

:hugs: Great to see you out and about with the camera again Shaz! Wonderful stuff.

Debs, I would do it if I were you - I felt the same last year before I did my first wedding shoot, and I said "yes" and loved every minute, and - more importantly - I was by FAR a harsher critic of my work than my clients - they LOVED the shots. I've not looked back; I've got a few booked this year, and into next year already :)

xx

Debs - if I were you I would say yes too.

Depending on when it is you could get plenty of time to read up on hints and tips, maybe go out with someone you know and do some practice shots or even attend a wedding photography workshop. As long as you make it clear to the couple that you are not classing yourself as a professional at this point in time. They must like the shots you have taken as they wouldn't have approached you

I'm really putting some background effort in at the moment. I've set myself up a Facebook group for my photography and am in the process of setting up a more professional looking website. My blog is ok but I just don't think it looks professional enough to appeal to potential clients. Have had a few people approach me for photoshoots a couple of childrens ones, possibly an engagement shoot and also a wedding which isn't till next year.

Am determined that 2010 is going to be the year that this starts actually going somewhere rather than just being a few snapshots of my travels.
