I'd seen you mention the 55 - 250mm lens and have put that on my list of possibilities. Having done a quick search it is actually pretty well priced too which is good, if I can get something at a decent price then it means hopefully I might be able to put any left over cash towards something else a bit later on – maybe even the 50mm.

Hmmmmmmm *strokes chin*

I think I may put the screw on filters on my birthday list as hubby keeps asking me if I can think of anything I’d like. Still got my eye on the set of assorted ones on Ebay, 23 in the pack and they include the macro ones maybe I could ask for them.

I’m slowly working out what kind of stuff I’d like. I can see how easy it is to have a long wish list when it comes to lenses though!

hehehe.... and the more you look the longer the list will get... but it's all good! :D

im still unsure on which one to go for...

canon or nikon?

1000d? or pay not much more for the 450d?

did you hold any yet? see which you like the feel of? (that sounds daft but you'll see what i mean!)

jessps would prob be best - they tend to believe you when you say you're "thinking of purchasing".... ££££ appear in their eyes and everything! then say "i don't want to rush my decision, i'll come back when I've had a think" after you've had a good grope of everything going! :D

pc world is a great place to try as well they are all out on security wires so you get to hold everything without you having to ask if you can have a feel lol. The one near my mom had all of the makes out as well not just canon and nikon!

the pic in my signature was taken using the 50mm.

it's great for portraits coz it lends itself to shallow depth of field (blurred backgrounds) and low light situations too. I'll see if I can find any more decent examples to show you :D

Thanks sounds like a good option for me as i like shots lie that and take loads of portraits!

I pretty much get the same with my big Lens...just have to stand miles back. Haha.
