Photography Club

Hi there, can i join you girls,! love taking photos but they always look a bit crappy!
i have a canon eos 300d had it for a while but getting to grips with it. would love to do a course so i know a bit better how to use it.

Have fun with that and make sure you show us what you come up with TiggerTea :)

And welcome Hypnorm :)

Hi Hypnorm! :hi: Welcome to our little 'tog corner :) Looking forward to seeing your stuff.

i'm thinking of contacting a few local studios to see if they would need a assistant or junior tog to assist at weekends
what you think?

go for it - be prepared for an "only if you work for free" offer though....

haha
ok i'm going to make a few calls. do you think i should do "work for free" and in advance i will have to say that i have a few wedding bookings so wont be available every weekend.

So I woke this morning at 6:30am to 23 degree heat and a beautiful sunny day. I was looking farward to taken Braden for a stroll and do some shopping in Town.

So I go for a sleep while he's napping and I wake up to get him fed and read to take out when I look outside to this ....

Yes thats a pavement where the line is

Now theres a storm, heavy lightning and thunder.... Braden's scared half to death poor thing.

ha - i'm to quick for ya annar :smug:

annaf -i say yep, work for free if you have to, but be sure the pro doesn't mind you 1. building a portfolio through any images you may take while "working" for them. and 2. will be a reference for you if you decide to look for a paid job. :D

Again, Speedy Gonzales (AKA Debbie  ) is too quick for me, so I'll second what she said.

Gosh...anyone else remember Speedy Gonzales from the old Looney Tunes cartoons, or am I just sad and old?

thanks girls i will be doing some research and making some calls over the next few days thats for sure.

Good luck, hope you find a place where you feel that you're learning and advancing your skills :)

Just wondering if any of you had some advice about noisey pictures?

I think it's a downfall of my camera (panasonic DMC-FX50) but surely it shouldn't be that bad...

Basically, if I have the flash set to 'forced off', a lot of the time the picture will take ages to capture and it'll be noisey - what setting would it be that does that? Is it the shutter speed?

If you need an eg I can upload what I mean.

Thanks :)

yep shutter speed will be slower when flash is set to off, partiularly in low light situations. using a tripod can help here, since that eliminates the chance of any movement, but sometimes that alone won't fix it, and an extra light source will be needed.

Thank you :)

It's just a lot of the time when taking pics indoors, the colours look better without the flash but the picture comes out noisey.

The flash tends to make the picture look quite "hard"

if u know anyone who rolls their own cigarettes, nab one of their papers an stick it over the flash.... its a free and easy way to diffuse the light. so you have well lit pics without the hardness of fill-flash. :winkwink:
