Blimey you think you'd be fairly safe on a photography forum!
Rdbubble looks good... just makes all my efforts look very crappy.
Am looking for a macro lense at the moment want to be able to do close up shot of things.

Hey Chick, I thought so too. obviously not.

I just bought a tamron 70-300 with macro facility looking forward to getting my hands on that!

Anna, I'm so sorry you had such a crap experience on a photo forum. I am involved with two that I think are lovely, so if you would like I can PM you the addys (not sure if I can post them here)

For weddings, I tend to pack most of my kit. I use a Nikon D200, a Nikon SB600 flashgun with a Gary Fong Lightsphere as a diffuser (https://store.garyfonginc.com/kits.html). I have a Tamron 28-300mm lens, a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens, and a Tamron 90mm dedicated macro lens (which also doubles up as quite a nice portrait lens!) I don't use anything fancy, to be honest --- and I'm so flattered that you value my opinion!

Hypnorm, glad that you're liking RedBubble :) I can heartily recommend the Tamron 90mm macro lens, but if you're wanting to try macro out before shelling out for a dedicated lens, you could always buy some close-up filters to fit one of your current lenses - I have a set of them and they work a treat!

That's what I've done. I bought these: https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/55mm-Macro-C...0380195221QQsalenotsupported#ebayphotohosting

How are you getting on with the DSLR Neecee? Your stuff on RB is lovely :)

Thanks Anna, I'm loving it!!!! I went on a photography lesson with a friend the other night - rules were no flash, no tripods and no auto settings. Everything had to be manually set, which really gave me a much better understanding of my camera. It took about 15 shots of Tower Bridge to get one that I was satisfied with though.

I'm so proud. i made a light-blocker-outer and did my first TTV shot :cloud9:
I also slightly cross processed it. went into overkill with new things yesterday
see my rb a/c and let me know what you think.... please?

I can't comment on the techniques or anything but I love that picture!
Gorgeous pose and the colours are lovely

I have a friend who is a professional photographer and he took a group of us amateurs out on Thursday night to take some shots in London. Here's what I've come back with:

I took loads more, but these are my favourites. I loved doing the Tower Bridge shots! My friend knew just when the tide was out so we could climb down under St.Catherine dock and get some really good shots.

I love that Tower Bridge shot - makes you realise just how beautiful London can look (especially at night)

Just got my old Canon film camera out of the cupboard was hpoing that the lenses might fit mine but sadly not, the lense on the T50 is 55mm and on the 300d it 58. dont think i can get an adapter to go smaller.

Going to put the Canon T50 on ebay i think, its got everything with it, 210 lense, hood, flash gun, effects lenses, and the standard 50 mm lense. and a 2 x converter. nothing will work with the digital. Then i might be able to get a macro or fish eye lense!

Hypnorm, that lens can be used :) The 55mm and 58mm you refer to are the filter thread sizes -- what you need to buy the right polariser or close-up filter. It has no bearing on using the lens on a different Canon. The T50 uses an FD lens mount, and the Canon DSLRs use EF and EF-S mounts - but you can buy an adapter to allow you to use the lenses

If your old lenses are really good, it may well be worth investing in the adapter rather than buying new lenses eventually.

Something like this would fit the bill, and mean the lens would still confirm focus is correct when manually focusin - but autofocus would not work:

sorry forgive me not very techy i think i meantt filters. like uv, orange, star fire hey r too small for the digial canon

:dohh: My bad, sorry Hypnorm! I got the wrong end of the stick, and just ran and ran with it, didn't I?

just looked at the price of canon macro lenses!!!....
might look at tamron or sigma lenses they are supposed to be good.

Hypnorm, I have the Tamron 90mm macro lens and it's a stunning bit of kit - it's rated as one of the best, particularly for the money.

Anna, You can do a superb job with no prime lenses. The Nikon 50mm f/1.8 is a seriously good and sharp lens though - apparently the Canon equivalent is too - and costs somewhere between £80 and £100. Lots of bang for the buck! I wouldn't worry if you don't have any primes though :)

I have to 50mm f/1.8 for the Canon. Been VERY into using it lately... loving it!

Here's some I took of the ducklings & swan on sunday/monday.
The swan hissed and bit my fella and the ducklings were just pure awww factor, wanted to take them home. (pics are abit crap due to taking pics whilst feeding them )
