... I am asking this on behalf of my sister :flower:

Has anyone put in a claim for PIP (the benefit that will replace DLA), and how long did it take to process?

My sister has been waiting nearly 6 months for her claim to be sorted. She has not claimed DLA previously, and is also in receipt of ESA. She says she calls them every couple of weeks, to be told its being processed and thats it.

Is it usual to wait this long? (looks like on reading elsewhere that there is a backlog of claims, hence a longer wait than usual). Does anyone have any contact details for someone who can chase this up for her? Shes had to give up work due to her disability, and is finding it a struggle at the moment.

Thanks!

6 months does sound a bit out of hand. I know for DLA they say wait 8 weeks before contacting, I'd prob assume similar.

My friend has been waiting a lot longer than that. u just have to keep ringing. I am on dla but they dont start doing up north till next year but as i have my dla for life when i make my claim i will still get paid till the decision. Plus with this atos company out they are replacing them so there will be a longer backlog than normal

It dont work like that any more.

Not with these assessments.

It is and it isnt as easy to get it as it is dla

The more evidence u have about ur problems the better.

Thankfully i have specialists and drs for give em what i need and will just get my health file. Like i said the more u have the better the chance
