When I was 17 weeks I went into the ER because I was in so much pain I couldn't walk. They drew blood, a urine sample and they did an ultra sound and found I have a very very early UTI and my ultra sound showed I have a very low lying placenta that needs monitoring. My next scan is at 23 weeks. I was on bed rest for a week and yesterday was the 1st day I had 0 pain. I was not informed anything about placenta previa. I googled info but ya get the worst stories. Does it correct itself with growth eventually?

Low lying does not mean its a placenta previa, and yes it usually will migrate upwards as the uterus grows...

I have had horrible care so I switched to tri care standard to get a civillian Dr. But the ER OB I saw said I can't fly I cant have sex and that catching placenta previa before 20 weeks is a good sign.
:( I hope so.

That is awesome your not finding out the gender according to your signature stuff. I was going to wait but felt very overwhelmed with so much gender specific stuff these days that we found out. I didnt have the urge to want to know but I literally had nothing to buy or prepare with. Too many find out and no one has a neutral clothing line.

Ya our nursery theme is neutral and the clothes I'm not too worried about. It's the first grandchild on both sides so I'm sure we'll get lots and plus people make it seem like they'll never see the inside of a store again... I'm sure I can send oh and his mom for a trip once we're a little settled.

I had it with a previous pregnancy and yes you have plenty of time for it to correct itself. Whatever you do, never google. lol that is a definite worry. If I remember correctly my placenta previa corrected itself prior to 30 weeks pregnant. So don't worry you have time.....

I had a low lying placenta last preg it was discovered at 20 weeks I was sheduled another scan at 28 to see if it had moved it hadn't then another at 36 weeks but at thirtyfive weeks I had a bleed. AnD I lost rather ugly looking clot I was taken in put on bed rest for a while I was sent home 36 weeks with the expected elective c-section at 38+2 but I bleed again at 37weeks and thank god they took me on then as my placenta was not healthy anyway I have a perfectly happy and healthy boy,,,,
My friends placenta did the same but had moved by 28 weeks

I had a scan at 20 weeks and have a low lying placenta, I have another scan on the 31st of this month at 25 weeks to check if it's moved up, if it hasn't I will have another scan four/five weeks from the last one to check again. I really wouldn't worry. It's very rare for the placenta not to move up and you have plenty of time for it to move, as your uterus grows your placenta will move with it. My doctors aren't worried AT ALL.

My husband's in the military also, the ER doctors at the hospital on post/base don't know what they're talking about half the time! Don't let them scare you! I went in at the beginning of this pregnancy with horrendous cramps and they gave me an ultrasound and said, "hmm I'm not sure if you're having a miscarriage or not, have to wait and see." wtf.

I have also been diagnosed with low lying placenta. :dohh:
When I saw my consultant this week (so week and a half after my scan) She said that it should move up but in the meantime I'm not aloud penetrative sex. (My friend had actual placenta previa and wasn't even aloud to orgasm so I made sure) I'm not aloud to fly and I am not aloud take to warm/hot baths and have to shower. She said I cant bath as there is a slight possibility of the warm water getting inside the cervix which can cause complications and bleeding. If I have ANY bleeding at all I need to ring asap and let them know.

Fingers crossed both of ours move up so we can have a normal vaginal delivery  I'm all for c-sec emergency but I don't want to be forced into it for something as silly as the placenta :dohh:

I had partial placenta previa with my son and by 32 weeks it had moved up. Lots of hugs! xo
