Aloha ladies! I'm popping over from first trimester for a question. How far along were you when you think your placenta started taking over? In other words, did your symptoms dramatically change at this point? I'm 11+4 and woke up to barely any boob pain, etc. I had an ultrasound at 9 weeks when my ms faded and babies were fine. I'm just a nervous wreck I guess :-) any help is appreciated

I think your placenta takes over from 14 weeks.
I never really had many symptoms so I cant say for sure but a lot of women's symptoms reduce or vanish when you reach second tri x
This is a quote from bbc
Week 12
By this week the threat of miscarriage is much reduced. Many women announce their pregnancy to friends and colleagues.
The foetus is growing in length much more quickly by now it is about eight cm long and weighs about 60 grams. The placenta is now wellformed though it's not yet doing its full job it takes over fully in week 14. The mother is likely to have her first scan this week.

Sounds about right! My symptoms stopped before yours. Good luck and see you here in a week or so!

It was right around that week that I noticed my symptoms mellowing. I am juuust about to 14 weeks now, and my symptoms are noticeable better still, however they do seem to wave in and out

I was on progesterone and told I can stop after 10 weeks because thats usually when the placenta takes over but some doctors like to keep you on progesterone till 12 to be safe. Its a bit different for everyone.

My symptoms eased up from about 11 weeks and continued to get better over the next couple of weeks. I was so happy!! Still get odd wave of nausea etc but nothing compared to what it was

My RE also took me off progesterone at 10 weeks. He said the placenta would have taken over by then. My symptoms had definitely eased at that point, but I'd say the morning sickness wasn't completely gone until at least 14 weeks.

Thanks ladies! I know there is no need to worry but I do :-) I've already seen babies 3 times with good heartbeats and growth. My friend had vanishing twin at about 10.5 weeks so I think that's what has me nervous.

At around 10+4 I noticed no more nausea so it probably just started by then.

My symptoms disappeared at 13 weeks apart from the morning sickness which carried on till 19 weeks...

12-14 weeks it starts to function then should have totally taken over by 14 weeks xx

Well I have my good and bad days- still not nauseous since week 9 per se, but no food looks good to me. My boobs are all wonky, my tiredness comes in spurts, and sometimes I just feel like a hormonal lump.. So all is good lol
