I am 7 weeks pregnant on Tuesday going from my LMP.

My OH and I were planning on getting a private scan at 8 weeks just to make sure babba is in the right place and to just put our minds at rest really.

My query is, as I would be 8 weeks going from LMP, wouldn't I technically be about 6 weeks (from ovulation)?
Would a scan show properly?
I mean, would they be able to tell if everything is where it should be so early on?

Sorry if this question doesn't make much sense... And excuse my ignorance when it comes to these things, it's all so new to me.

Thanks ladies xx

Hi, I went for a private scan at 7+2 (going off of my LMP) and that seemed to be the correct age for my wee one (although I got pregnant literally within a few days of the end of my period) and could see everything clearly even though at the time I was somewhat in shock so didn't take things in properly!

So I reckon you should see things fine! Is your going to be transvaginal? x

I had a scan at 6 weeks with baby #1 because of spotting (4 weeks after ovulation) and there was a heartbeat visible but it didn't really look like a baby at that stage. We then paid for a private scan at 9 weeks (7 weeks after ovulation) and it was clearly a baby though with stumpy legs and arms. They did measurements etc and all seemed fine so I'm sure at 8 weeks (6 weeks past ovulation) they can tell a lot.

I'd love to get a scan this time around but we're trying to save money so waiting on until 12 weeks. It's hard waiting but by 12 weeks they really do look very different.

Oh wow :) I'm excited now!

Thank you ladies!

It would be an abdominal scan from what I've read on their website, they say its for peace of mind which is what I'm after... At only £45 I reckon it's worth it. Purely because this is my first and I have no clue... Lol xx

Suddenly thought my wording wasn't great - it didn't look anything like at 12 weeks but you could tell roughly what bits were what and see a heartbeat just so you don't go in thinking I saw a proper looking baby with very distinguishable features and think there was something wrong when yours didn't look like that! x

I paid £140! But I know that hospital so felt comfortable so for £45 it is definitely worth it, I literally love the picture of my scans! It makes it much more real - especially as I'm so neurotic I thought I probably had a disease instead of being pregnant so was unsurprisingly super excited and happy! x

Lmao, I get that! I've been thinking all sorts!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting to see a baby on the screen... It's just that I've been reading about ectopic pregnancies and stuff like that so I'd just like to know that everything is where it should be :)
£140 seems abit excessive! But as they're private I guess they can charge what they like. To be honest, I'd pay anything just to put my mind at rest so it's all worth it xx

I had a scan at 7wks and at 9wks, so can't comment on what you will see at 8wks!! With my scan at 7wks I seen a tiny dot with an even tinier heart beat, but was having a total Ross and Rachel moment because I could hardly see it!! My scan at 9wks was much clearer and could make out limbs and heart as well as the brain forming so it really was great. I had a follow up at 10+4 and could make out the nose and chin and everything.

Although it may be very early, that doesn't mean you won't see anything!! I'd go for it, £45 is reasonable xx

I had mine at 8 weeks (6 weeks since ov) in fact it was a bit under 8 weeks and all was fine. I'm having another one with this one a week tomorrow. Eeeek!!

I was exactly the same - I kept panicking about everything so just thought I'd go for it! Also, it was done vaginally so I don't know whether that affects the price but yeah I thought that it was worth any penny so for £45 it is well worth the money!

I was also a while earlier than you so you may be able to see more than I did anyway x

Ahh thank you both :)
I think I will definitely go for it. I haven't even had a letter from my midwife nor an appointment for my 12 week scan so I think I'll take it into my own hands lol xx

I had one at 8+1, so reassuring and worth every penny, mine cost £80! X
