I'm on the verge of tears. My fiancé and I are both 22 years old we've been together for five years. We just moved into our first apartment two weeks ago. Last week after three BFP we are expecting. It is unplanned and unexpected. Due to personal beliefs we want to keep it. We are in the state of arkansas

Problem 1. We have no insurance
Problem 2. I'm going to lose my job. I work a high risk job being a vet assistant(lifting,X-rays,cat litter, animal bites, etc). We are a small independent clinic so the law doesn't protect me from being let go due to pregnancy because it is a fit to work position. My fiancé has a part time job. I am the main breadwinner

We applied for Medicaid and have an interview for wic this week but my mind is in havoc what if we don't get medicaid or I can't find a new job?! I've read horror stories of people who don't get approved for three months ;(
The only peace if mind I have is his mother has offered to care for the baby instead of daycare.

I'm so scared how we will be able to get prenatal care delivery etc.
I'm trying so hard not to stress because its harmful for our baby but I can't help it

Please I need advice or reassuring words. Im a wreck

Congrats on your bfp!

Try not to stress, I know it's hard but there is no point worrying about things you don't know about yet, like your insurance.

Are you certain you'll lose your job can you not start looking for another?

I'm not sure how the benefits system works in the us so I can't help in that area, sorry.

I was made redundant after my contract ended when I was 5 months pregnant but I found another job - the job centre told me that I wasn't entitled to benefits (because I'm married and was a full time student 4 years ago, so hadnt paid enough national insurance to the time they went back to, unbelievable!) and that noone would hire me because I was pregnant. HELLO discrimination! When I asked what I was to do as our outgoings are more than my husbands wages, they told me to go apply for a loan!!!

Needless to say, I freaked out. As I say though, I got another job so there are people who will hire pregnant women, especially as you're only just pregnant so won't be showing - you don't need to tell employers your pregnant until 25 weeks (I'm sure it's around that) here, so check with the US laws too.

I'm a strong believer that everything happens for a reason, just stay positive and look for jobs that suit you. I'm sure everything will work out, even if it seems like shot has hit the fan at the minute.

Good luck Hun

Thank you, so much for your response.
Yes I'm certain I'm losing my job because of my high risk occupation I had to tell the DVM/Boss He told me since they're under 50 employees he has the right to fire me at will.
So I need to look for another job. In the meantime he wants a doctors note saying I can change cat litter and take X-rays etc. but without insurance I can't get that note so my days at my current job are very numbered.

Sorry to hear that :-( I know we're very lucky in the uk with the NHS.

Definitely start looking elsewhere ASAP, you just never know what's around the corner and I'm sure you'll find something just don't give up hope yet.

Sending hugs xx

I work in Rogers. With what you explained, I dont see how you'd really be denied Medicaid, even if it was only pregnancy medicaid. Have faith, you will make it!!
