I would really love some help from as many ladies as possible to try to help me figure out what happened during my pregnancy with my ds. He is now 13 mo and I'm pg with #2, 5+3. I am going to try to be as clear as possible and hopefully not confuse you all.
With my first pregnancy, I had just gone off bc for good. I was only on it from mid april to the end of July. Took my last pill and two days later on July 25th I had my expected period. My dh and I ttc'd following my af but we wweren't positive when I ovulated because I was just getting off bc. I started taking tests really early, in hopes that maybe I ovulated normally (around CD14). I probably started testing at 10dpo. I took so many tests and all came up negative. The day af was due I went and got blood drawn and it was negative. Time kept passing and no af but no bfp. I finally ended up getting my bfp on CD43. We were thrilled! Since I had no idea of my ovulation date, my doc just initially calcuted due date with lmp so I was about 6 weeks and my due date was April 30th.
Then when I was about 9.5 weeks I went in for my first u/s and the baby was only measuring at 6.5 weeks. To me this made perfect sense because I got a bfp so late in my cycle and I had just come off of bc which probably delayed ovulation. So then my due date was officially May 18th and my doc said that wouldn't change.
Fast forward to 32ish weeks, I was having an insane amount of braxton hicks. Almost daily, pretty intense, but zero pain. That continued for the next 3 weeks until my water fjnally broke at 35+6 and my son was born at exactly 35 weeks. When he was born we expected him to need help breathing, be no more than 6lbs, and have to stay in the hospital. He had no trouble breathing, was 7lb13oz 19.5in long, and we left 2 days later. Everyone who helped during delivery and recovery said he did not seem like a 35 week baby whatsoever. He was born on April 13th.
So what I'm wondering is, was he really premature? Is it possible that at my 9.5 week scan he was just measuring really small for some reason? At my gender scan at 18.5 weeks he was measuring 10 days ahead (but he had to measure more than 10 days ahead for them to change my due date). Basically, he was born seemingly as a full term baby. 5 weeks before my due date and only 2 weeks before my initial due date.
I know this may take some brain power to follow because there are a lot of dates and facts and info but I would REALLY appreciate some input and ideas. I'm wondering ic I might expect baby 2 to be early, like maybe my body just couldn't handle a full term pregnancy? But at the same time he was so perfect at birth that it's hard for even the doctors to believe he was an entire 5 weeks early.
Thanks ladies! Feel free to ask questions if you're confused.
