I'm not sure where to post this but i hope i picked the right place.

I'm 9 days pp and i am getting worried. I am Formula feeding and have been since he was born. My problem is that my breast milk has not come in and hasn't given me any signs that its coming. I have no "full" or "sore" breasts and i have no leaking. I can message my own breasts without issues and still nothing comes out. Yes my nipples are darker but other than that i got nothing. When your FF does your milk come in slower? should i be worried?

Are you intending to breastfeed? If so, the longer you go on FF the harder BF'ing will be to establish.

Otherwise, if you havent got milk coming in and you dont intend to breastfeed, theres no problem.

i'm not going to BF, yet i have never heard of anyone not getting their milk. I have been waiting for those sore full breasts and the milk drying up, yet i see it no where in sight.

is it possible that your milk not come in?

It could well be that because you are formula feeding, your body isn't creating the signals to produce milk. So don't panic :)

I thought milk usually came in once your body knows it needs it. My milk hadn't come in until a couple day ag.
My son was born last friday. The first couple feeds were nothing then a couple days later i woke up with massive aching boobs lol.
I thonk your body only produces it onceit sees that its needed? Idk maybe I'm wrong but hope I helped :D

Your milk should come in regardless. I ff ds straight from birth, midwife told me ways straight off the easethe didiscomfort. Its hormone triggered not demand triggered, though whether you continue to produce is demand driven. If you're really worried then ask a midwife, but you may just be lucky and not experience the bad side of it.

I was breastfeeding at first and my milk did not come in until 6-7 days postpartum. The doctor said it was probably due to the traumatic nature of my labor and emergency c section.

are you worried about possibly breastfeeding in the future? also like a pp said it could just be that you get lucky and don't have to deal with it :)

DD1 ws fully Breast fed and my milk came in day 4-5. With DD2 I formula fed from birth and my milk came in on day 3-4. My boobs were very engorged and painful for a good week. With DD3 we formula fed from birth and my milk came in on day 2-3, but this time round I was no where near as engorged and not at all in pain. So I would say it varies with each pregnancy. Guess this time my body was prepared for me formula feeding where as with DD2 my body was expecting to breastfeed and got caught out lol. xxx

I've never had the milk coming in thing. I mix fed both of mine after the first few days (pumping a few times a day) and never had full or painful breasts on any particular day. I assumed as I only pumped a few times a day after the first few days when I just BF'ed, that it wasn't enough to cause a lot of milk to be made; I just made enough to get a few ozs when I pumped. Also when I stopped pumping I felt nothing. No pain, full boobs, no leaking. I also never leaked in pregnancy. Breast feeding is a different experience for every woman; some get engorged, some leak, some like me get nothing. It's all normal. If your breasts are not being stimulated then they may not make any milk after colostrum. Sounds like you are one of them. Congrats on your baby!

With DS1 i never produced anything either during pregnancy or post partum.. not one single drop.

DS2 i started leaking around 7 months pregnant and it took me 5 weeks to "dry up" after he was born. I had tried BFing but he gave me blisters so i just went to formula x
