PND Support Thread

Hi hope people don't mind me joining. Docs say i have got PND, they are linking a lot of it to a miscarriage i had before i had my daughter as am now thinking what would have been with that baby now i have chloe.
Me and the doctors have agreed i dont want to go on tablets for it as i want to continue to breastfed my little girl and even if i didnt she wont take from a bottle anyway. They said they would refer me to counselling and they still havent. Does anyone else feel like their docs dont take them seriously and take ages to do anything about their PND?

Hi mummytochloe.
My PND was caused by another reason and I took medication but I've also used CBT.
Take each day at a time you will get there and try not to feel guilty. You are doing well by just asking for help. I'm sorry your doctors are being slow, have you spoken to your HV? She may be better placed to get you support.
Try finding some relaxation techniques. A good one I have is to tense, hold then relax individual muscles.
I also used a baby massage class with Kate. No matter how stressed I was before a class I was always relaxed after.

The most important thing is to keep talking. It's the hardest but best advice I was given.

Take care Hun. X

Yes i hav signed up to do a baby massae course but atm it isnt running so just got to wait until it runs again. No i hardly ever see my health visitor as we have to go to self weighing clinics to weigh our babies and its always different HV's there, do need to try and get in touch with mine though.
And yes i will definghtly try the relaxtion tequnices, yes i have been told if the counselling doesnt work or only partly works CBT might help also x

Hey,

My doctor refused to put me forward for counciling, but to be really honest u can talk to anyone about how u feel as long as you dont hold it in. I came off tabs my self and I feel great, I think I reached a stage that if I didnt get off them.

coming in here to air your feelings will help u tho or having a close friend, if u need 2 talk dont think twice about emailing me.
I know how hard it can be but I got through it so can u with the right support :D :hugs:

I have to go back to my Dr's this week as she wants to see if my tablets are helping, she put me on fluoxetine, I have had them before and they worked fine.
I have had an ok week, been trying breathing techniques, I have had a few meltdowns, its just when I can't get things done and everything's happening at once, I just can't seem to cope with things one at a time!!

I'm glad you're doing so well. I totally agree with what you're saying about just being able to talk. Sounds like you have some wonderful people around you.

Hey hun,

I would tell your doctor exactly what you have written here. How long have you been on the medication? It may be the meds still havn't fully taken effect or they might need adjusting slightly.

Try not to take on too much. I'm terrible for piling too much on myself. It's sometimes the case I have to think what's the worst that will happen if I don't do this, what's the worst if I do?
It is hard to change the way you think about things though.
Have you been offered CBT? They breathing techniques you are doing are really good.

Take care.

:hugs: Glad you've got the appointment.

Try not to feel too bad about using medication. They are just correcting the chemical imbalance. It's good your mood has lifted

Hi girls new to this thread was diagnosed two days ago with PND really struggling right now, just can't see things getting better. I'm on tablets for it and my health visitor came round yesterday but just felt like a massive waste of time and feel so guilty for my little girl.

MrsEngland, your LO will not know about it, you will be well before she knows anything. You have made a brave decision getting help, its hard to admit but I found it was like a weight had been lifted. I am on medication and I have my first counselling session tomorrow. My tablets are taking the edge of things. Give it time, if you can talk to anyone that always helps, and be open to people.xxx

I am really struggling. on top of my insurance being canceled so I can't get my meds, my OH left me...............I just can't do this anymore.

Newmommy I am so sorry you are having such a shit time, is there anyone who can help you out?x

Don't feel guilty for having PND. It's completely out of your control the way you've been feeling. You are doing the best for your little girl by getting help. I agree with Becs about your LO not remembering. I was diagnosed with PND last year. My daughter is 13 months and is a very happy little girl.

Maybe speak to your GP about getting some counselling as support.

X:hugs:
