hello, this is my first time on here and thought this forum was where i belong as have been TTC for nearly 5 years. I am pretty confused though as i went a did all the tests a few months a go and was found to have polycystic ovaries but my blood work came back clear and i am really regular. Does this mean i don't have Pcos? I am a few stone over weight and do struggle to lose weight but that is the only other symptom that i can see. If not anyone know what is does mean? Have managed to find nothing via google and the doctor was so rubbish and dismisal that i wasn't able to ask. Any ideas would help me a lot!

Welcome, Here are my thoughts and it is just an educated guess.... are you positive that your hormones were fine? because my doc told me the same thing but i was able to look up my test results online and my testosterone was 73 when normal is in the 30s, sometimes doctors dont tell us the whole story. For 3 months i was wondering the samething you are.

I am very irregular because of my pcos but i have talked to women that have regular periods but do not ovulate. Are you sure that you ovulate? I recommend charting to see if you ovulate. It is the best way. Alot of the ladies on here use fertilityfriend.com I do too.

So to sum it up, you probably do have pcos and possibly dont ovulate. and you probably just didnt get the whole story.

I hope i helped. :hugs:

Hi there,

My GP diagnosed me with PCOS & said that it wasn't worth testig me as there's nothing you can do. Thankfully I have health insurance so I got a scan & although there were cysts (I think he counted 8) he said that's not really enough to count as polycystic. Then my blood came back ok (although I want together the actual levels from my docs as I never got them at the time) so I actually don't have it after all. In the 2 moths that it took them to work all of this out I lost 30 lbs by eating low GI & exercising. I haven't gained it back yet so fingers crossed I won't. (I had tried lots of different diets & exercise before that never worked). Good Luck to you xxx

A gynecologist once told me that some women may have polycystic ovaries but not the syndrome. some may have the syndrome but not the cysts. PCOS is a common term to address a wide range of problems. Generally, if you have PCO + overweight + access hair + imbalance hormones + irregular periods, you have PCOS. However, like I said ... it is a common term. Like for myself, I have PCO + am slightly overweight + imbalance hormones but no facial hair and cycles are fairly regular (30-40 days). I've got a friend who is slim, no facial hair but only have PCO and long cycles (50-60 days).

So I think you do have PCOS but not the general kind as in you are missing the imbalance hormones + facial hair. Like No Regrets said, maybe you are not ovulating because eggs which aren't released turned into cysts in our ovaries.

Hope this clears up slightly for you.

hi i had cysts on 1 of my ovaries as a baby & had to have it removed....i had my dd after ttc for 6 mths & then when she was nearly 3 we started ttc again...i got some spotting inbetween periods for about 6 mths & as we had been ttc for a year with no luck my dr refered me for scans of my ovary. he found polycysts on my ovary, i got diagnosed to a fertility specialist....i had blood work done which showed i was ovulating ok tho. i did lots of research on the internet & with pcos most cases came with other symptoms too....excess hair & being over weight seemed the most popular. i have neither of those. my dr said he didnt think i had pcos but confirmed i did have the polycysts. a few mths later i had my fallopian tubes tested for blockages...all came bk fine. my specialist said i can go away knowing im ovulating & tubes are fine or go on clomid to help produce better quality & more eggs....i snapped up the chance!!! on cycle 4 i became pregnant with boy/girl twins!!! that was almost 2yrs after 1st ttc....they are now 9 mths old. please dont give up hope...i thought it wuld never happen for us, every1 around me was falling pregnant & i felt like my dd was going to be an only child 4eva xx

hey ladies just thought i'd add my story.
i got told i had pco in may but not sure i have the syndrome as it showed in my blood test that i was ovulating the day they took it and bloods came back normal but she didn't tell me my actually levels as i was a bit naive of the whole pcos thing at the time.
I'm also an ideal weight, although i'm trying to shed a few more pounds at the minute (its working!) have no facial hair or any other symptom apart from longer cycles (anything up to 60 days)
I'm definitely going to go to a different doctor to get a more in depth examination as i just got shrugged off and got told i would have to go back after 6months of trying!
So in the mean time i'm getting my body healthy and still trying!

Hi, it sounds like it could be PCOS to me, but I suppose you might have to get the full story from your doc first.

My gyno is pretty certain i have PCOS, i'm quite a bit overweight, I have facial hair, have a max of 3 periods a year, have diabetes brought on by PCOS and been ttc 32 months, whereas my DH cousin, just has the PCO and hair.

The problem with PCOS is that it takes so many forms there isnt a definitive yes or no for so many people.
I hope that you get the answers you deserve

Hi,
Just wanted to add my two cents.
I was diagnosed with poly ovaries, but not PCOS. My fertility Dr said this is quite common and that 30% of women have this (pco).
When my ultrasound showed 11 and 12 follicles, this was the symptom. I am 40 and we have been TTC for about 15mths. I was on chlomid for 3 mths earlier this year, and my u/s showed I have plenty of eggs left, about 70%, whereas most women my age have about 40% left. I started my period late, was nearly 15, and I have long cycles of 31-33 days, but very regular. So it's possible I don't always ovulate, but opk tests show that I do, and my charting also showed ovulation.
We are going for iui this cycle and it starts in a few days.
Pco don't have to have the syndrome, but a lot of follicles is what showed I have pco, when I asked the Dr she said this is the reason for my diagnosis.
I was slightly overweight, BMI at 25, so not officially overweight, and Dr suggested I lose a few kg's and have lost 5kg with running, yoga, lower calories, reduced gi foods, etc.
now my BMI is 23, so I am in a good range (plus feel better!).
Wanted to share my story as its quite similar to the above, hopefully it helps others.

I know the thread is old, but I think I have the same thing. Pco and was cleared of PCOS by my obgyn. My amh is 5.43 and I'm 43. I'm just still confused. Could I really have that many eggs at my age? What's everyone's amh here?

I know it's not PCOS after reading so much on it. I'm 110lb, low blood pressure, low cholesterol, no facial hair, etc
