Poop frequency!

Hey girls!

Just a quick question! My LO used to poop after every feed but the last 2 weeks it was more like once every day. This week she went 3 days without one and now is again on day 3 and I'm getting worried! Once she went last time it was still very creamy so I guess she is not constipated but could it cause her a problem?

Doctor recommended giving her camomile which I am now at every feedand if it doesn't work to give her a glycerine suppository but this sounds too drastic to me!

Any ideas?

Babies don't need to pooh everyday. Its normal for some babies to pooh after each feed then for some babies its normal to pooh only once a week. My HV told me this when I asked how often my LO should be filling her nappy. As long as the consistency is soft and not hard or marble like then it's unlikely she's constipated. HTH

hiya hun my health vistor recommeneds a drop of fresh apple juice with water it does work aswell

I read that a couple of oz of water helps get things moving for a consitpated baby, although if she's not in any discomfort and her poo is still soft then I wouldn't worry - and if she's feeding well and giving lots of wet nappies too then that's a good sign.

olivia can go 3 or 4 days without having a pooh, then she will have 2 or 3 in the space of an hour or so then nothing again for days. i spoke to the health visitor about it and she said as long as her pooh is no thicker than peanut butter(nice lol) and its not hurting her to pooh then thats just whats normal for her x

I agree, James can go 3 days or do 3 in one day. As long as they're not straining and the poo is not too hard I would say it's fine.

It's normal for babies to poo every few days. Some will go at every feed, some will wait a few days and do gigantic poos every hour for a few hours If your LO is doing creamy poos when she does go, then you're right in thinking she's not constipated

Evie was always an every-other-day kinda gal, sometimes every few days but her poos were always normal (Aptamil normal! ) so I never worried. Now she's being weaned she poos a few times a day!

Thanks so much girls! She is still going every 3 days but all still looking creamy! mmm lol! I do give her some camomile every day, can't harm anyway!
