Ok, so Harry has always been a regular poo-er! He usually does a good few poos a day, of the watery, yellow, and often projectile variety. However, at the start of last week, he suddenly started just doing 2 a day... then on Wednesday he didn't do a poo... did a massive explosion on Thursday dinner time... nothing yesterday... then another explosion today. What's going on?! Is this normal? Only thing that's changed is that we've introduced one more bottle of FF each day, so that now makes 2 FFs a day and the rest BF. Surely this can't have caused it?

Alex is the same. For the first 6 weeks or so every nappy was dirty but then it slowed down to every couple of days (and massive!) and now (at 11 weeks) she only goes every 4 or 5 days and it's a bit thicker and not so big. Totally normal I'm told.

I know with exclusively breastfed babies it's normal for them to go up to a week without going. Does he seem to strain when he does go? If not I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure he's fine

Sounds like it could be (and likely is) entirely normal. As babies grow and their digestive systems mature, they digest more of what they eat and as a result tend to have fewer poos. There is, however, a wide variation in how often babies poo; some will have several a day, others one a week or so.

If you are in any way concerned though I would mention it to your doctor or health visitor.

It sounds very normal to me. Jasper was the same - he went from nearly constant 'leaking' poos, to one or two MASSIVE EXPLOSIONS a day!

Good fun!
