Hi ladies, I've never officially introduced myself here but I've been lurking for awhile.
I am 29 and have in the past dealt with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss. In 2012 I lost 4 pregnancies, after the 4th we decided to pursue adoption and now have a beautiful 9 month old. Well we desperately want to provide our daughter with a sibling and are currently trying to decide how to go about that.
After my 2nd loss I did a recurrent loss blood panel and everything came back normal so my doctor was really not sure why I kept losing my pregnancies. Well we decided to get a 2nd opinion this time around and have found a new doctor. He wanted some additional tests ran and the results just came back. Everything was normal with the exception of my ANA screen which came back positive.
He wants me to re-do the test to rule out a false positive and said we will go from there. If it is positive again he will send me to a rheumatologist for further testing. I asked if this could possibly be a cause of my losses and he said that a positive ANA does have a correlation to miscarriages.
I'm not really sure what to think at this point. Of course I don't want it to be positive, but if it was at least I'd have my answer as to why this keeps happening.
Has anyone else had experiences with a positive ANA and miscarriages?
