Hiya

Hope everyone is well. I have had 2 csections 2 years apart and it is now 15 months after my last one. I had amazing experiences and was terrified beforehand. If anyone has any questions or just needs to talk feel free to comment below or pm me :-)

Xx

Hi, You cant live too far from me, im in west mids too :) I have had an emergency section with my 6 year old and will possibly having a planned this time, so scared as last time it was all a rush and i was put to sleep to didnt really have time to think . Did you have your babies at new cross? x

Hiya chic, yep both were born at new cross! I havent had an encs so cant compare but a planned one is amazing and so relaxed and you are looked after so well throughout! Before my first one they let me go into theatre a few weeks before and have a little tour to see what it was like and both of my babies were born in that same room! Will you be at new cross also?

Xx

Yes i will be at new cross too, my first was born there, glad you had a good experience xxx

Hi hun just found out I'm pregnant with number 2 :D

I have a couple of questions if that's ok?

First one, If I had a c-section last time can I request one this time or is it automatically decided for me ?

Second one, same as bumblebee how was recovery with another little one at home already? Xx

you get to chose :) I had an elective c section 3 days ago. Had an emcs with my first. IT is quite a difficult recovery, having a 21 months toddler as well but my mum is staying for two weeks to help.

I had an elective almost 3 weeks ago now, following an emergency one with my DS. I haven't found the recovery too bad, I was sore and swollen for about 5 days but I have been driving again since the weekend and other than a little numbness and occasional twinges I feel totally normal.

I had an excellent recovery the first time too, things I've found that have helped is keeping as mobile as you can as that seemed to help regain the strength in my abdominal muscles.

I found the recovery okay with a 2 yr old at home. Hubby was home for about a week but again I was determined to do what I could and slow down if I thought I was pushing myself too much. Lol.

And yes I had elective with both and I believe if you have had a csection previously you automatically get the option to choose seocnd time round. Xx

Hi hulahoop09 I think I know you somewhere?

I had a EMCS first time round and I chose to do natura birth but successful! Because I want to recover quicker at home with 2 years old at the time!

Xx

Thanks hulahoop for this thread! :flower:

I was at the hospital today for some tests and the midwife doing my non-stress test said that the pain after a c-section is constant because we use our abdominal muscles for everything. Is this true? Does belly binding after the c-section help with the pain by supporting the muscles? I had a normal delivery last time but because my baby was huge, 10 lbs 2oz or 4.6 kilos, my stomach almost immediately after delivery looked like an empty sack and hung low and I was having trouble breathing. I used a belly binder and it was instantly better and I could breathe and turn better in bed because of the additional support.

I wonder what you or the other ladies who have had a c-section have to say about what the midwife said about "constant pain over several weeks" and whether belly binding helped you.

It was just sore after mine, and i never done belly binding, not sure what that is? My belly eventually went back flat so dont worry, i think everyone is different x

A belly binder is just a belly support belt. Glad to know that you did well after your C and that you were only sore and not in terrible pain!

Thanks, Yes it was uncomfotable getting about a bit, like getting out of bed or off the sofa but i did take pain relief tablets too which i guess helped, im going for a planned this time x

I never had constant pain and had 2 sections :-).

With my first I healed expecially quickly and was very mobile by day 4 and pain free by day 8.

Thanks Minties! Good to hear that both your sections went well! I don't know why that midwife tried to scare me so much. Maybe she thought she was being helpful by preparing me for what lay ahead. I should have asked her if she personally had had a section!

The first couple of days hurt, but (for me) it got better very quickly. I drove home with Thomas on day 4.

What did hurt was coughing and sneezing.

Ive had 3 sections... I I'm up in the shower by the next morning, I was home 24 hours after i had my 1st section :)

The 1st 2 weeks i would say are the hardest, not because it hurts, but you do kind of feel bit stiff, its obviously sore and sitting down/getting up can be bit tricky/slow because your scared to pull your stomach. But after those 2 weeks your basically back to normal. Ive never really been in pain with them and there have never pained

i had an emergency c-section after a failed induction. It was amazing! best experience despite the panic and chaos. My doctor, nurses and anethetist where all calm and kind and helped me relax through the whole process. Recovery was quick, i had Olivia at 6:14pm and the next morning i was in the shower, and by the afternoon was walking around the hospital no problem. Within the week i was pain free asides from the itching which lasted about two weeks. if we try for number two, i will happily go for another one.
