Positive Fetal fibronectin test last night

Popping in from second trimester.

Are they giving you anything to stop the contractions you're having now?

No:/ doc said she isn't a fan of the meds because they make you feel terrible so since my cervix was still long last night no meds to stop them. They are mostly less painful than last night but I'm tired of being in pain now! Really hoping though that when I go back to hospital in a couple of hours my cervix hasn't changed.

Oh! They do make you feel terrible, but might be worth it, especially if your cervix does begin to change. I was on Magnesium Sulfate for 3 days and it was the worst, but I would have stayed on it much longer if it meant keeping my baby cooking! :)

I hope there's no change though, and they stop on their own soon! Good luck, mama!

Just got home from the hospital again. No change with my cervix yay!! :happydance: still feeling and showing contractions on the monitor. Considered high risk and taken off work from now until baby comes. Hoping that rest will stop the contractions.

Reading all this has made me positive thank you ladies.. Im still sooo uncomfortable been having since sat night and its beggining to get to me bigtime!! Take my hat off to you for having them soo long x

Aw man :( I'm sorry to hear that. Hang in there Ill keep you and baby in my prayers. I'm feeling ok today. Just discomfort not painful contractions thank goodness. Just had appt with my regular doc and she answered all my questions. Will be seeing her much more often now and start nonstress tests on baby twice a week until delivery. Ill be living there basically haha

At least ur getting sorted :) xx was there any other reason u r having th nonstress test? Xx

Yeah I had an insulin resistance prepregnancy so now have GD and take insulin. They will be doing the nst on him biweekly for that. That's a bit scary that its necessary to monitor him so closely but I'm glad they do :)

At least theyr taking good care hun! Whereabouts are u im uk? Xxx

Will be interesting to see th difference of us and uk.. Childbirth is th same no matter where you go so but the care is so different xx

Thnk u hun i hope urs does too. Im now on bed rest enforced by my oh.. Wat do they do in th us to stop labour? Xx

With dd I was in labor from 27 weeks on. They gave me steroids for her lungs just in case she came, but they gave me magnesium sulfate through an iv to stop the contractions. I lived in WV at the time.

When did you end up delivering?

Sorry, just now saw this reply lol.

I was 37+3 when I had her. They ended up inducing me because of blood pressure and fluid loss, and I had a 14 hour labor.

If its any reassurance, I had about 4 positive FFN tests from 22weeks. (my previous baby was born at 27+4 so i was fairly hysterical at that point)...but I delivered at 40+2. Positive FFN tests are highly unreliable , especially without a scan to check the length of your cervix. Like some of the other posters have mentioned, negatives are far more reliable

Hmm thts a point i never had a scan to see th length of my cervix y is tht i wonder? Xx

It's generally not offered :(

Not a huge lot is known about FFN tests as they are still quite new. Since my second pregnancy my daughter has been on a trial with progesterone and the FFN tests and they would never leave a FFN test without a cervix scan. Had my cervix been shorter, they would have alerted my consultant . But it never was an issue and so I was told not to worry

Easier said than done, when you're fuelled with pregnancy hormones!!

Tell me about it!! Everything feels 100x more emotional lmao x

Yea my friend had that test done about 4 weeks ago saying she'd go into labor probably within the next 2 weeks but she didn't. She made it to 36+6 and her water broke last night and had her baby girl this morning at 37 weeks. So even if it's positive you may still go over 2 weeks which in your case would be really good. Did they put you on bed rest?
