Hi ladys I have been through a nightmarish week this week my little boy has bowel problems & I have been told he has a week to improve before he is admitted to hospital & having a tube put down his throat to try clear him out :( I'm not to hopefull he will improve either as he's had this problem since he was 6 months old & is now 6 years old! :( but anyway to top it of I have been in agony for the last two days with realy sevear lower abdomen pains on my right hand side & have been backwards & forwards to A&E & my doctors & so far have been told I have raised White blood cells, need a smear test & today was told they think it's one of three things... It may be my appendix (but they don't think that's likely as I'm not in enough pain!), It may be strong (& I mean so strong I can bearly stand up straight) ovulation pains which I don't realy think it is at all! Or they said the most likely cause is a cyst on my ovaries & have now refered me for a scan! I'm so scared of what they are going to find :( has anybody had this sort of stomache pain before? Does this sound like it could be a cyst to any of you? I have also been realy dizzy, nauseous, had pins & needles in my hands for some reason (have no idea if that's even related) & also been extreamly tired & been sleeping all day. I realy have no idea what to expect at this ultra sound scan! I would also like to add they keep constantly asking me if I'm pregnant & at 1st thought I'd had a mmc because my last period was abit strange & early & I didn't test that month but i've taken about 3 tests so far all where negative & also had a blood test at hospital which was negative aswell so I think that's ruled out  xx

Thank you I realy appreciate it :) & thanks for not r&r'ing like so many already have! xx

Hi Camlet, sorry to hear about your pain. I've been lurking at BNB for a little while but felt compelled to register when I saw your post because I wanted to reply! I've had lower right abdominal pain for a few months (also upper thigh and lower back on the right hand side) and recently found out that I have an endometriomal cyst on my ovary. Please keep asking your Dr to refer you to a specialist or to get an ultrasound - the first 2 Drs I saw said I must've just got a tummy bug, but blood tests showed no infections, finally the third Dr thought it was a cyst and sent me off for ultrasounds. I'm now waiting to get a laparascopy to get the cyst (and hopefully any other endometriosis) removed so I can TTC!

Camlet i hope they can help your little boy, It wont be nice for him to have something like that but hopefully they can get some answers for you if it ends up needing to be done. I have no idea about the pain your having but i hope it goes away soon xo

Hi Camlet,

Here I can really offer my advice, because I've been through this four times.

I was hospitalised in 2008 with severe abdominal pains- on a scan they found a ruptured cyst on my right ovary, and that my right ovary was three times the size of the left. They medicated me and then discharged me four days later when they were certain they wouldn't have to operate.

I was re-hospitalised in 2009 with the same problem- bleeding out cyst (which this time made me feel ill and vomit) on the right ovary. Again, another scan and discharged.

This happened twice in 2010 with really awful abdominal pains (so severe I was given morphine) and another cyst on my right ovary.

The scan is no big deal, and they will offer you painkillers if it becomes too much for you. It tends to be an internal vaginal examination, and they will scan both ovaries and can detect cysts fairly easily. The largest cyst I ever had measured about 10cm by 7cm. They will then show your scan to a doctor who will decide whether to remove the cyst by keyhole surgery, what medications if any they should give you, and if they don't operate what the plan will be.

It is unlikely to be appendicitis (they would never send you home if they suspected that) so a scan is the best thing they can give you. They will discuss everything with you and don't be afraid to ask questions. If they do decide to hospitalise you, make sure you know which department you have been referred to (most likely the surgical team until they make a diagnosis via scan) and which doctor is seeing to your case (they will also be the doctor who will most likely discharge you too).

But above all, don't worry. In all my cases I was very well taken care of and, particularly during my last episode, they found what was causing my cysts to rupture and bleed out into my body.

All the best for you and your little one. Mai.x

Oh, and I should add that when I suffered my ruptured cysts, I had the dizziness, the sickness, a little shakiness, and extreme tiredness because of the infection my body was fighting (the infection was linked to the cyst too). Mai.x

Your increased white blood cells would indicate an infection of some kind, it seems like they would have looked at your appendix more closely if they thought it was even a possibility, because I have known people with no pain at all to have their appendix burst, I hope they are bringing you back in very soon. The pins and needles in your fingers is probably you hyperventilating, if you start getting them then take nice even breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth, and you are probably hyperventilating because of the pain. I had a large cyst on my ovary that I actually had when I got pregnant and when I got pregnant it went away on it's own, so luckily I didn't have to have any type of surgery, but it was very painful. I hope you and your son feel better soon :hugs:

Hi everybody just wanted to say thank you for all your great replys!! You have all realy helped put my mind at ease now just to wait for this scan to finaly come through & hope & pray everything not to bad!! xx

Oooh & I just want to add welcome goldfish to b&b & thank you for joining to reply to my thread I hope you enjoy your time in b&b :) I have been refered & am waiting for my appointment for my scan which should be in 7-10 days! I hope all goes well for you in ttc & we are hearing about a nice bfp from you very soon :) xx

Camlet - thanks hun, good luck for your scan appointment. I'm having my laparoscopy in 2 weeks so hopefully if all goes well we can TTC soon after that!

Hi there! I had an ovarian cyst removed by Laproscopic surgery last may. I had bad pain in my right side and it hurt REALLY bad after sex one day so went to gyn and had an ultrasound which showed a big cyst. She reccomended we remove it right away so had the surgery 2 weeks later. Not all women have it removed, some wait and see what happens, just talk to your drs and get 2nd opinions if you want. Personally I wouldnt get surgery again unless i really needed it.
The surgery was easy but the gas they put In your body really hurts... Suprizingly painful... They have to put it into your tummy for the camera to have room to move aound and when the remove it not all of it comes out and I have to say, that's the worst part. I had a couple other complications too
...here's a tip!
I wish I had taken stool softener for a few days before... Not fun to be constipated with 3 incissions to worry about!
I had a problem with one of my stitches too but apparently that is uncommon and it is a fast recovery for most. I know 3 other women who have had the surgery and 2 said it wasn't fun but wasn't terrible and one was like me and had a hard time with it (but we're both babies!)

Good luck and I hope it all works out well for you! Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them if I can!

Hello Camlet,
First I would like to say that I hope all is well with you and your son. I can definitely relate to you as far as the pain that you are talking about. I had this pain back in April and one of the doctors too thought that it may have been my appendix. I was referred for an ultrasound. I had blood tests as well that showed that my white blood cells were increased although they could not find any infection. I was in so much pain that I could barely stand. I almost passed out after having a pelvic exam done because of the pain. The scan did not show anything. The Dr. Said that I could have had a cyst that probably went away on its own. I spent about one week in pain and luckily have not experienced that level of pain since. I hope everything goes well when you get your scan done.
