Post HSG

Hi

Had my HSG on Thursday and OMG!!! It was really painful, was a MAN of course who did it and didnt warn me the speculum was coming and just rammed the damn thing !!! Anyway after serious cramps during the test the good news was that everything looked fine - huge relief.

BUT,
Since Thursday (now Monday) I am no longer cramping but have "churning" and occasional pains in pelvic lower abdomen and still bleeding a wee bitty and occasional brown discharge - i am soooo not happy about this.

Do you think I should contact them, I will be mega annoyed if they have either done damage or gave me an infection cos I have never had anything like that before down there.

The other thing that really annoyed me was my darling husbands comment was "thats another month missed then"! Like it is my fault we cant BD at the monent! Times like these I wonder why I am bothering to try!!!

was the HSG done with a doppler and they checked tubes etc..

I had that done and got instant pelvic pains like af pains, and i had these pains for quite awhile after the scan. And i spotted and bled every day after right up until af was due,so I think its pretty normal chick

I had a hsg a few weeks ago and what ur experiencing sounds similar to me, if ur concerned tho do call them, i had to take anti biotics pre and post procedure just in case of infection, have u had these? It also put my ov back, so hopefully u will feel up to bd soon and still b in time, i have to admit i had to make myself bd and it was sore and i was scared but dh was gentle. Good luck. XXX

What a horrible experience for you, I am currently awaiting HSG and am a bit apprehensive as have heard a few people report similar experiences to you. Hopefully you will feel better soon. Sometimes my DH can say the most annoying things, think men are under pressure with the whole ttc thing and some of them can appear very insensitive but he probably didn't mean it the way it came out.

The brown discharge should be the dye coming out. If you think you have an infection, give them a call.

Bonfloss - try not to worry too much, I had one done last month and just had my usual period symptoms (throwing up) for the day

Mine was really painful too. But, it is nice to know that everything is good (or not and then it can be delt with). I spotted for several days...can't remember how many tho. I also felt quite bruised and sore down there for a number of days.

Just take Advil and Tylenol before you go. I didn't, and I really think that's why mine hurt so much.

I went to to clinic lastnight and got a dose of two different antibiotics they have given me an infection from the HSG procedure, took wee samples etc. But the antibiotics have made me feel rubbish.

Apparently they do suppose to give you antibiotics at the time of the procedure, but I didnt get any, am hoping this will sort out asap as feeling rubbish today. Trying to stay positive and think at least test was fine. Just annoyed now have an infection from it all.

Here I am over a week down the line and just finished another course of antibiotics and still got pains in pelvis, now got oral thrush from the damn tablets - nightmare - I have never had infections down below before and am very angry about it, just hope the infection doesnt cause "damage". Not allowed to BD for at least another month - so that has gone down well from husband also.

OMG girls - you all seem to have had horrible experiences with HSG
I am terrified of having mine done tomorrow I am just hoping it won't hurt too much - I am already sore for having my gallbladder out recently, so any extra pain will make me feel even more down
Did you all get an idea of the results on the same day, or did you have to wait to see gynae?
