Hi All,

Have been bf-ing for 6 months now, but have a box of C&G stage 1 formula from when AJ was born, gave him a couple of bottles when I was ill (he was 3-4 weeks) my Q is.... does the powder go "off" it says on box use within 4 weeks of opening?

I decided the other day to use this formula when mixing purrees/baby cereals etc so I made up a bottle and it looked really powdery, I kept shaking it but wasn't convinced it was ok and ended up throwing that bottle out  The water had cooled for longer than 30 mins but didn't think that would cause a problem? then I read the box and saw it said to use within 4 wks of opening!

What did I do wrong!??!?!? or is the powder "off"? I just thought that the food would taste nicer for AJ mixed with milk rather than water but can't really be bothered to express such small amounts!

Any opinions appreciated!
:D

EDIT: I wouldn't have thought that a powder would go off within 4 weeks?

It shouldn't be used now, it may not appear to have anything wrong with it, but the warning is there for a reason and it could give your baby a bad tummy, so just not worth it for the price of a tin of formula.

If you need to use a bit of milk and don't have formula then cows milk wont do him any harm in cooking (its only a no no as a formula replacement!).
