I don't care what anyone has said to me, there is absolutely no way I am not taking a shower every day or putting on my makeup. It's something I have done for my entire life (except the makeup, started when I was 15) and it's not going to change.

My own mom did the same thing, she took care of herself as well as taking care of us.

Have already been told that I won't be able to handle cloth diapering, or exclusive bf'ing, or making my own baby food.

It is very very irritating so most of the time I don't volunteer any info anymore.

On another forum I was on there was a HUGE fight between some members as one person said that moms who didn't bother taking care of themselves or whatever were "martyrs" and liked to complain and feel sorry for themselves. needless to say it was a lively thread and got very ugly.

To each their own but I intend to keep on taking care of myself and making myself look and feel good. I can guarantee that won't change.

I could definitely see that getting ugly. And it makes sense why...because people are defensive about their choices! When we all realize that there isn't one template for all people...then we may all get along?

I don't know, it seems like pregnancy and parenting is such a minefield! People get so worked up about things. I know what works for me won't work for the next person.....and that's OK! Just go with it

My mom loves reminding me how me and OH will NEVER be able to go on vacations EVER again! lol. I think we'll manage somehow....and honestly we're not too sad that we'll have a baby instead of trips for the first few years! Then when she's older we'll take her with us! Other than that though mom's been supportive of breastfeeding and cloth diapering...unlike some others I just try to smile and take "advice" in stride because really, they feel better thinking they're giving me helpful advice and I simply don't have to follow it it's not like they'll know I didn't switch to disposables because of them....
