Pre-cancerous cells then BFP

C1Reid, I put this in an earlier post but my friend carried her baby knowing that after the birth she'd need laser surgery to remove cancerous cells, she had the surgery when baby was 2.5 months old and waiting for results. Hope all goes well for you and try not to worry, I was so worried I was going to die when i found out I had pre-cancerous cells but then you talk on a forum like this and its quite common. And i worked for the NHS adding smear test results to database, abnormal/ borderline results are as common as 'normal' results xx

:hugs: Thank you, i think cos i missed appointment then since having LO ive been having bleeds after dtd but so heavy i needed tablets to stop it.going for check up at doctors again tomorrow but she'd said at last app she'd try hurry things along for my peace of mind.Its true what you say,you think of the worst but it is definately more common than i thought.Im hoping im just stressing for nothing, OH keeping going on about it and i think making me worse cos he's worrying lol...xx

Sorry for hijacking post with my worries a bit, its good you can hear of other members experiences.:flower:

Thank you so much you ladies are truely wonderful and have really put my mind at rest....Like you say u always presume the worst.......

Thinking positive now, thanks:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

On a final note... my mum used to be a manager in the Cytology unit and dealt with the admin and results of smears, she said - if anything really bad could happen in the space of a year then they wouldnt give you a smear every 3-5 years - they would be annually instead!!...

Don't wish to step on your toes, or upset, (or scare anyone!!) but i'd disagree with that.

I had a pap smear which was negative in April 2003 after having a D&C to remove a polyp and I got CIN III by Dec 2004 - I was showing symptoms by August 2004 - so thats only 1 year 4 months.

I think it depends on the person.

xx

I had LEEP done at the end of 2007, I had been having normal paps after it ever since up until my last pap last month which had abnormal cells again but they said they just wanted to see me back in 6 months. Well now im preggers so we shall see what they want to do. But yah they wont do a LEEP if your pregnant they made me take a pregnancy test before doing mine! Doc said it shouldn't affect pregnancy at all but that they would see me earlier (6 weeks instead of 8 weeks) along and maybe a bit more often just to make sure cervix is holding up OK! You should be fine!
(btw they make us get a pap every year here in the states!)

Miss BB, wasnt stepping on toes dont worry!!! What i meant was that from having a normal smear to having an abnormal smear to having cancer is a process of appx 3 years, thats why they can leave you in pregnancy with an abnormal smear as although there may be some development in the 9 months there is time afterwards to treat it. Sorry if I didnt word it that well xx

So pleased you replied, I have been worried since I posted it!

I agree it takes its time to evolve for sure, smears are excellent ways to keep a regular check on things, and if anything strange happens in between then its best to nip off to the docs and get it checked like I did :)

xx

Haha!! Dont be silly!! Its good to correct people/ make things clearer when you have experienced things yourself.
I only get the chance to log on in lunch breaks so its hard to catch up! x
