When did you girls stop taking pregnancy tests and charting your temps, etc.? I can't seem to break my habit! lol I didn't take a pregnancy test yesterday and panicked, so I took them today. Ugh! I want to stop, but I also want to assure things are progressing. I'm also still temping and get a sigh of relief when my temp stays up. It dipped a touch yesterday (see my chart), and I freaked, but it sky-rocketed today so I felt better. I'm a wreck! I'm just desperate for a happy, healthy :baby:!

Any advice or thoughts? :flower:

I'm gonna be harsh here, but I think it's for the best if you stop taking tests/charting temps, and just assume everything is going well. If you have no reason to think otherwise, then you are just stressing yourself out and worrying for nothing - the worry won't change the outcome, only make you feel worse.
To answer your question though, I took one test that we thought was negative. Another one a few days later when my period still hadn't arrived. One at the doctor another few days later - which wasn't very definite, then one more at the doctors a week later (the first strong positive). It's been hard to remind myself there is no need to keep testing any more, but I have managed to resist.
If the monitoring is making you freak out, then my gut instinct tells me that it's not a good thing to do. I totally understand about wanting a healthy baby, and just wanting to somehow KNOW it's going ok, but sadly this is something only time can tell. I think it's time for you to start enjoying your pregnancy, and accept all the ups and downs without worrying about hidden meanings (within reason of course - don't go ignoring symptoms!)
*hug*

I would take a hpt every so often for about a week after my BFP and then I ran out :)
I did, however, chart my temps for almost the first trimester and then I was advised to stop by my doctor. Hope this helps and congrats on your BFP!!

Thank you ladies so much! I am trying very hard to relax and stay in a very "zen" state. It's hard. I've only known for 5 days and have taken 8 tests. I think I'll temp until my first doctor's appointment in 9 days, but I won't buy anymore tests. I do have 1 or 2 more, and maybe I'll just pee on them tomorrow to know I have no other option! lol

You're right. I have to just chill and enjoy my pregnancy. It's my first, so I know that I'll want to cherish each moment and remember everything. :flower:

Thanks. :hugs:

I stopped testing after .. umm.. probably 20 tests
I figured it'd be a good idea to put the thermom away about 4 days after my missed af, like you said, it becomes a habit.. but it's also reassuring when you see high temps day after day. I thought I'd worry like crazy if I missed my temps in the morning, but I've been fine.. now MS is reminding me how pregnant I am :dohh: xx

I was doing the same thing. Freaked myself out, totally convinced myself that I was going to miscarry. At my 7 week scan, I almost didnt get out of the car and go in, because I was just SURE tht they were going to give me bad news. NOPE! It took her literally half of a second to find my baby, and another half of a second to find the heartbeat. Everything was perfect.

I took over 50 pregnancy tests. I had a bunch of the cheapy ones from amazon. I would flip out if the line got lighter... really I was just being a crazy person. Pregnancy tests are designed to tell you HOW pregnant you are. Just if youre pregnant or not.

And even if you WERE to miscarry, you would still have hCG in your system for a while, so theres no point in testing to make sure that baby is still in there. If youre not cramping, or not bleeding, assume that things are fine. :)

STOP TESTING AND TEMPING! throw away the rest of your tests, or give them away, and hide your thermometer. :)

I have done 4 frers and I might try on those CB digital plus just for fun but that is it. Going by lines to gauge what is happening really doesn't help. It just freaks you out even more.

I am so glad I didn't buy the 50 ICs I was planning on buying before I conceived! It would be sheer torture! LOL

I am going to give my OPKs to my best friend who is just beginning the TTC journey and let her borrow my TCOYF book. If I don't give away the OPKs, I will surely pee on the too! (I already did this morning)

You're all so right. I know it's not good for the baby to stress. :hugs:

I never charted my temperature and I only peed on 2 tests!

I have peed on 2-3 tests every day since tuesday when I first got my BFP and still took my temperature up until today. We are leaving for our anniversary weekend at the beach and I have promised and wont be able to test or take my temp there so I am making myself a promise that I am done with that. I have 1 more answer test and about 15 IC and I took them out of my bathroom and plan on giving them to a friend who is TTC. It is hard to not worry and stress, every cramp or pain I feel freaks me out but like someone else, it is something that only time will tell and there isnt anything that can be done so Im going to try my very hardest to relax. I hope you can too!!!

I just found out on Saturday that I am pregnant, I tested one day before AF was due.I took 2 tests that day and had a Dr confirm my pregnancy on Monday..I was freaking out most of Sunday about the chances of miscarrying.. I haven't taken another test yet but I'm still charting.
I realize that if I do miscarry there is nothing I can do to prevent it and that there is nothing that I could have done differently that would have resulted in a normal healthy pregnancy.
I will probably continue charting until my first Dr appointment at 10/12 weeks, just because it has become such a habit (and, yes, it gives me peace of mind without obsessing over it)

Yes, miscarriages are common, but we are a lot more likely to deliver healthy full-term babies!!!

So does anyone know if your temps stay up if that means your baby is healthy or just that hcg is in your system? Like would it drop if you were mcing?

I ask because I mc'd last cycle and saw some weird changes even though I had just started charting then.

I read that your BBT stays elevated for the first trimester and that a sudden drop can indicate complications/mc.

And that is exactly why I am continue temping. I know I'm crazy. I know there is nothing that could be done if that happens. BUT it gives me a piece of mind until I get to my doctor's appt on Monday at least. Maybe I'll stop after that. I have promised to the OH that I will not buy anymore pregnancy tests. I have one more left.

I am still temping as well..I also have 4 or 5 tests left...But I am almost too paranoid to take them...I know...at least my temps are staying up..I can't wait till I finally have my first Dr appointment and hear a heart beat!
