Pregnant after an Ectopic

I've started this thread as I haven't seen another one that addresses this particular group (I may have missed it).

I am 4 weeks along and super, ultra-paranoid after having an Ectopic Preganacy in December.

In my case, at 6 weeks, I needed surgery to prevent a rupture. The tube was removed but the rest of the bits seemed to be sound. As well, I'm an older mum at 36.

I'd like to know if anyone else is preg. now after having an EP. Have you had any pain/twinges. I was told this was from internal scarring and quite normal.

I only just saw this, I'm so sorry about your EP

I'm currently 25 weeks with my 2nd post EP baby

My son is now 4.5 and my EP was 5.5 years ago, I was left with only one tube

Both pregnancies I've been absolutely paranoid about another EP and had pains and twinges that really make me freak, but all was ok

Good luck and there's no reason why your baby won't be on this time xxxxx

Thanks! I'm glad you posted. I've had quite a few 'twinges' but I have been told it's quite normal because of internal scar tissue (and normal pregger twinges) 5 wks now - not many, but each one is a victory!

Yeah its definitely normal, I had it with both pregnancies, and this time I was almost certain it was going to be another EP, have they been checking your HCG? When do you go for a scan?

My first scan I think I was around 5 weeks, after they kept checking my hcg every few days to make sure it was rising. At around 5+3 they did confirm the pregnancy was in the uterus thankfully, but there was no heartbeat yet so I spent the next week stressing about that, dont be surprised if you are nervous the whole way through, I was, we lose trust in our bodies to get it right

Thanks for the reassurance! It's so good to hear about success preg. post EP.

I've currently had 2 blood tests and I have a GP appointment on Friday. They'll do a scan if my levels aren't rising, but I haven't received a phone call to come in yet, so no news is good news :)

Will keep everything crossed for you, but yes no news is definitely good news, if they weren't rising they'd want to scan you and treat quickly

Will be thinking of you :)

Heya,
Just to let you know, I had my appointment today and my hGC numbers are super high and climbing rapidly (along with the MS symtoms..bleah). My GP feels I'm out of the ectopic dangerzone so now I just have to stay sticky.

Thanks again for the encouragement :)

Thank you for posting this! Sorry for your loss. I too had a tube removed after an ectopic in February. My question to you is... Did you have a difficult time TTC afterwards? If so, did you use any aides (vitamins, etc)? My husband and I conceived on our first try with both of my pregnancies (I have a 1.5 yr. old now). And now we're having a bit of a hard time (but not really, compared to other people).

hiya I'm pregnant again after an ectopic - with twins! had first scan yesterday and all in the right place and all fine-
previous twin ectopic with tubal removal followed by 2 yrs of tty and eventually a test to see if other tube was blocked removed a small build up-
you will be absolutely fine xxx
