Hello All
I had DD 2 years ago by EMCS. Labour was slow.
My recovery wasn't the best as I caught an infection and was in Hdu for two days etc etc
This time we are going for a VBAC as there is nothing to suggest a similar birth to last time. I really would love to avoid a CS as the recovery is so long and I have a toddler. Any of you ladies that have had a successful VBAC do anything different to prepare for labour? I am 35 weeks so starting to think about perennial massage etc. The doctors/midwives have said very little except write Vbac on my forms?

I have no experience but I hope you get the birth you want.

I didn't really do much to prepare for labour but one thing I'm glad I came prepared with was knowledge, I'd read up alot on VBAC, the risks etc.. and it turned out to be very useful for me.

Although in all of my appointments (and I was monitored due to high-bloodpressure which was the reason for my c-section) all the dr's I spoke to were very supportive of my decision for a VBAC when I went into labour and to the hospital it was a different story. Noone said I couldn't try but they wanted to do alot of things (that I knew from my research) that could potentially compromise my chances of having a sucessful VBAC which was actually very dissapointing for me.

The only thing I did was drinking RLT which I did in my last pregnancy and DD2 came out in literally one push so that might have helped LOL!

I hope you get the birth you want.

I had a vbac 16 months after my c-section. The only thing I did to prepare was to have a cervical sweep at 38 weeks, I did nothing else. This time though I'm going to make sure I walk more near the end and stay as active as possible.

Hi I'm hoping to vba2c this time and I've seen a birth choices specialist to discuss it. I'm allowed to go up to 1 week over due before I'll need an elective section, so baby has 3 weeks to make her appearance. I'm starting to try everything to induce natural labour, I'm also having a sweep this Tuesday if I'm favourable. Good luck x

Did your sweep work? I've got one on Tuesday and I'll be 38+2 x

Yes, after 3 days I had my daughter in my arms. Good luck I hope you have a successful sweep too.

Just an update...I am still waiting on my hopeful VBAC.
Today is my due date.

My midwife will not do a sweep until I am 41 weeks and I have a consultant appointment then anyway where we will have to decide whether to wait until 40+12, have elective section or induce. I am definitely not being induced so I guess I will see what Dr says.

Really hoping I can get this little one moving before my appt next week, so will be trying sex, bouncing on ball, walking and anything else people suggest.

x

Hoping you get your vbac Hun!! Come on baby!!!

My dr recommended black and blue cohosh tea when I was 40 weeks with my son. Went and bought it but never tried it as my son was breech.

Hi hun I thought I'd give an opinion since I've been in this position before. My last pregnancy was a successful VBAC and I swear by raspberry leaf tea and evening primose oil tablets taken vaginally. I had the smoothest labor and I had and AMAZING experience. The pain wasn't even like I thought it would be, and I highly think its becase of the EPO. I went into labour at around Midnight the day was born, I originally went to the hospital because I was having contractions on and off. They gave me so morphine to try and help me sleep. It didnt work however, I was awake the whole entire night having VERY manageable contractions. I was checked around 3 am and I was 3 centimeter dialated. I was checked again at 8am and I was 8 centimeters dialated. Needless to say my baby was born June 13, 2013 at 8:53 am. The reason I think my contractions progressed so well is because of the Raspberry leaf tea because it supposedly helps strengthen the uterus so that contractions are more efficient. I started taking both supplements at 32 weeks pregnant. I hope you get your VBAC because it was just absolutely amazing. I had no pain meds and I got to experience skin to skin contact with my baby as soon as he was born. I also was right up afterwards taking a shower. Hope this helped you in a way and Good Luck hun :)

Really hope you get your vbac, no advice, but hope for the best!

Just to update..... I GOT MY VBAC :-D

DD2 born 13th September at 14.09pm. 12 Hour labour from first pains to delivery. All natural, no pain relief. Hard work but totally worth it.
