Private abdominal scan tonight at 6 weeks

Hi ladies we have just booked a scan tonight to on a private clinic who said he will perform an abdominal scan for me as i do not want a vaginal scan. He said he will do his best to reassure us. Has anyone ever had a scan at 6 weeks on the tummy and seen a heartbeat? Its £130 so i hope i will get some relief after all this spotting xx

Haven't had this, but had an abdominal scan at 7+4 and seen the heartbeat. I'm overweight and was told they would likely need to do vaginal but it wasnt necessary. Wishing you all the best for tonight, at 6 weeks you may see a heartbeat but just as easily may not as its around that time that the heart starts beating, so even if no heartbeat it may not mean anything. xx

I won't lie, at 6 weeks exactly a vaginal scan is much more likely to see a heartbeat than an abdominal one, there is a chance the abdominal scan just won't be able to see everything so low down at this point. On the other hand, you could see a heartbeat yes. Don't be too discouraged if you do the see much, it doesn't mean anything this early.

Ok I've had 4 early scans with this bubba and I had to have a vaginal at 5 weeks 6 days and my next one at 7 weeks 6 days was abdominal both I saw a heartbeat I hope your able to see a heartbeat they specialise in early scans so I'm sure you'll be fine sweetie. X

I had an abdominal scan with my first daughter at 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat, vaginal scans are much more likely to be clearer but it's definitely not impossible.

I had a vaginal scan last week, the woman said I am measuring 6 weeks exactly but there was no heartbeat yet. I am going back next Monday to make sure everything is progressing well.
She told me 6 weeks may still be too early to see a heartbeat so don't be discouraged if there isn't one yet. You're still very early!

I really hope your scan goes well. I don't know about the chances of seeing a heartbeat from and abdo scan but I had a vaginal scan a few weeks ago and I wanted to reassure you that it really wasn't awful. It barely felt like the probe was inside me. Way less uncomfortable than the abdo scan on my full bladder. Nowhere near as bad as a smear test. If you don't get the answer you need from the abdo scan maybe an internal scan would be worth considering. Good luck xx

Tada!!! 6 weeks and heard the heartbeat. So happy ladies. Its heart was 112 beats a minute and it measures 0.27 inch
