Has anyone else had problems with the teats on the Tommee Tippee bottles? We use the number 1's on our LO and they are always getting blocked and the milk doesn't come out until we squeeze the teat or flick it. In the meantime LO goes crazy for his milk. :growlmad:

We thought maybe it was a problem with the number 1's so we changed the teats to number 2s but the same thing happens and they are too much for LO to handle atm. Too much milk comes out for him and he ends up bringing a lot back up, so we'll try them again in another month or so i think.

So annoying how they keep blocking though, im thinking of complaining to tommee tippee.

Hmm I haven't had this problem and I use TT bottles - which formula are you using? Maybe it's not quite mixed properly and the teats are getting blocked with little clumps of formula?? I don't know sorry! How annoying though.

Well that could be a possibility, i know i mix it up really well but i bet OH doesn't do as good a job as me obviously lol. :haha:

I don't think it's the bottle hun, it's the formula. This happens on occassion with our bottles (Tommy Tippee also)- but what happens is the formula isn't mixing well enough and it blocks the teat. It would happen with any bottle- sorry. Maybe try to mix the formula with warmer water first, then add a little cold water to cool it down? This still happens on occassion with the formula we use- it's generic, but it happened when we used Enfamil even worse!

I know they make things you can use to stir the bottles with first- to help with clumps. My SIL also had this issue when they changed to formula (she used a different organic kind)- and they used glass bottles, so totally different than the ones we use.

I know it's frustrating! Grrrrrrr ;)

This happens all the time. No matter how well I shake/stir the formula it just doesn't bloody mix properly!!! And my LO only really likes the milk at room temperature. However, I have switched to size 2 teats now and they don't seem to block as much  I know it's the clumps of unmixed powder... But no idea why the number 1s would block more than the 2s :/

XxX

Not happened to me, try the vari flow teats, we used them with LO since she was about 1month old, it only comes out as fast as they suck, I think they're great!

How do you make your milk up love? Do you add the powder to room temperature water? If so that is most likely why it isn't mixing properly. Formula powder needs to be added to water that is at least 70 degrees to kill the bacteria in the powder but the heat also makes sure it mixes properly too xx

I don't have this problem with my TT bottles, but I'm using breast milk in mine about 90% of the time.

We've been using Tommee Tippee for 9 months now and have no poblems at all. They are awesome bottles.

We've used them since birth with no probs. LO on size 2 tears now and no probs on either. Sounds like the formula. I always make formula with boiled water cooled for no more than 20mins and then cool the bottle fast and we don't get any lumps, if you use cooler water it could be that. X

I always use boiled water almost straight from when the kettle has boiled so it can't be that the water isn't hot enough. Hmmm guess the formula just isn't dissolving properly sometimes, i blame OH cos i mix and shake mine up really well whereas he tends to swirl it more and i think that is the problem?

We had this problem with the number 1 bottles and I was using expressed breast milk. I actually had to get a needle and repoke the hole. Now using the vari-flow teats and havent had a problem.

Where do i get these vari-flow teats from? I have only seen the number 1 and number 2 teat sizes for tt bottles?

Sounds like its the way your oh is making them love. They need to be shaken really well - just tell him it's the same as making James Bond a vodka martini - shaken not stirred lol.

Vari flow teats are available in most supermarkets. They are supposed to flow as hard as LO sucks but Fran never got on with them. They have a x on the top rather than a normal hole xx

I'm having the same problem and I only use already made up formula so it's. Not just a problem with making up the formula. I have the tommee tippee steriliser but I think they are getting warped because of the heat. I'm surprised no one else has had this issue.

We use the variflow teats too and they're great. Boots usually has a buy 2 for... Offer or you can get them from Amazon cheap sometimes.

What milk are you using? When my son was on cow & gate the tomee tippe bottles were fine when i had to add the gaviscon it made the milk thicker and i has this problem then the same problem when he was put on nutramigen. Sometimes if the milk is slightly thicker then normal people this happens also make sure u pinch the vent every time u usr a bottle to ensure its open propely x

I reckon it could be the vent too, getting stuck together, try giving it a squeeze open before you screw it on the bottle

This happened with our old formula. It was supposed to be mixed in cooled boiled water and would clump up if the water was boiled. It was a nightmare.

I would say it's clumps of formula, I never had that problem and have used them a total of 16 months so far between my two!
