I don't know if ill get replys in here but its worth a shot..

I want to get a professional camera it will mean saving up for a few months i think as i know there around £500 mark.. i just need some advice into what cameras are good to take profession photos and are actually decent quality and worth the money as its alot.. Im looking at going into photography as a career anyway hopefully in the future but i love taking photos anyway and i just want a really good camera to take them of my son and landscapes etc..

Any advice would be really good help!

Thanks Becy.

hi hun :) I took photography for 2years in college but have been doing it as a hobby for nearly 6years. My camera was 500, it was good to start with, but just 3years later it's really slowed down. Apparently there is a huge difference in the quality of cameras at 500, and quality of those at 1000. Mine wasn't worth 500, quality wise. So i'll be looking into saving for one for 1000- my friend had one that was amazing. The difference in hers and mine was huge. I'm not saying mine was terrible but I'm generally frustrated with it. Sometimes I come across an amazing view, I take a picture with my camera and it never does it justice. Its hard because you'd probably want to start out with a cheaper one to practice but then again if you want to do it for the long run the cameras at 1000 really are a whole other level of quality. I have an olympus e410 but am told canon and nikon are amazing. Hope I helped some how. If you have any more questions feel free to send me a private message :) x x

hi there ive been doing photography for 4 years (2 professional 2 as hobby and just started my own business this year) ive been a nikon user from the get go and cant fault them.

for an amature photogrpahyer a great camera to start with that will do the job for a few years is probably the D40/60/90 (they get more expensive the further up the numbers go)

i have all 3 the first camera i owned was a d40 and i still have it and still love it. for 500 your not going to get the BESTprofessional camera out there but my D40 and D60 take a really good picture:

this is with the D40

the photo on my main page here is with the D60.

for those with more money (rachyroux) i HIGHLY recommend the D5000. I dont own one but i used one for 3 months...and im highly jealous of anyone who owns one, its an amazing camera but defiantly for someone whos been int he photography industry for a long while. it is not an amateurs camera.

PepsiChic- Thankyou for your advice! i'll definately take it into consideration, Have NO money at the moment hehe, all is being spent on things for little ones arrival. Nice pictures on DA. :) The D5000 looks amazing, but the photos you've taken with your cameras are also brilliant and look professional too, this talk makes me miss photography!

I have been using a Nikon for a couple of years now and love it i bought the D40 as it was all i could afford at the time and it is absouletly fab for normal pics and more pro ones also the good thing is there are so many lenses and filters available you can save loads buying second hand.

Here is a link to some pics i took using my D40 https://riverruns.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2znj8a

I bought my very first dSLR last year and it was the Nikon D5000. I LOVE IT. Its quite easy for an amateur to pick up and use but is also great for learning with.

I bought a Canon T2i and LOVE it!

I've got a Sony, it was about £400 and I have bought many filters for it and 2 lenses. Need a few more lenses and I'd love a flash gun too (Already bought the extension shoe cable) and like you, I am aiming towards professional photography. I have taken some fantastic shots and I am looking to purchase my studio type set up soon.

Good luck on making a choice - it wasn't too hard for me but then again I am not too fussy, lol x

I've got a Nikon D70 .. brand new there around £400 but I got it on ebay for £150 second hand, there's a shop on there that specialised in selling them.

Hello I have been doing photography for about 8 years now. 3 proffessionally and 5 hobby. I have been a solid Nikon user and haven't found any faults with them. I started out with the D80 and for a starter camera to learn on and to explore I got some amazing photos from it. Even took my award winning photo of the year with this camera. And now own a D300s. You can do just as much with a lesser camera as you can with a professional higher quality one. The difference is having the eye to take the difference between a good photo and a great photo. Also you need to know your camera inside and out to be able to use it to it's fullest extent, that means no auto shooting. I personally switched to a higher quality camera becuase my older one didn't have the speed I required for most of my photos.

My best suggestion for you since you are just starting out is to buy the cheaper one being the 40/80/90/60 and learn from it. More than likely this will hold up for your needs just fine. Take a few classes or join a local club also to help you learn.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me I am more than willing to help you out.

Hi Are you looking for a way to spice up any special event? Are you looking to make creative photography to decorate your child’s bedroom?
