Hi all -
I am 12 weeks pregnant with #2. My son was born healthy and with no respiratory problems at 36w6d in September 2012. I went into labor for unknown reasons, it was a normal vaginal delivery. They had to break my waters. I have possible diet controlled gestational diabetes (Not sure - I had it with my son, and am simply testing my blood sugar 4x daily with this one as opposed to taking the OGTT). I am 27 years old, 5'3'' 113 pounds currently. I do not have a history of miscarriage, if that matters.
Upon my prodding, my doctor brought up progesterone shots to me as a possible method of preventing this baby from being earlier than my son. That was at my first appt at 8 weeks, and she said she was not sure if the fetal medicine specialist would recommend them for me since DS was not very early.
I haven't seen the specialist yet and I'm not sure if I'm going to. Has anyone been in a similar circumstance? I'm very worried about having an earlier baby, but I'm also on the fence about whether I need them. Of course, I know I would feel absolutely awful if I went into labor early and had not done the shots. Argh! Please share your thoughts/experiences. Thank you!
