progesterone suppliments success

Good day ladies. Quick question, is there any one on progesterone supliment? I'm currently taking 200mg 2 times per day due to spotting which stopped after the first dosage. My gynea only told me to take it for 2 weeks and not more. Anyone on progesterone as well. How long will you be taking it/how long did you take them?

Hi mapha. I took progesterone suppositories as when I was ttc I had a short luteal phase and light periods. A scan revealed my lining was v thin so I took progesterone suppositories from 2dpo until 12 weeks. I was told that I didn't need to "wean" myself off them as once the placenta has taken over from week 10-12 any extra progesterone will be useless. I can't see why your doctor would stop you after 2 weeks. Could you speak to him and ask why only two weeks?

I'd def stay on it for longer than two weeks as I've heard you can possibly trigger a miscarriage if you come off of it too soon. I've been on progesterone for DS, DD, and this baby and took til til 13 weeks with DS and 14 weeks with DD and bubs.

Thank you dairymomma. I'm currently using cyclogest pessary, I take them viginally. I will definitely ask him coz in my country you can not buy them over the counter, you need a script for them

I had 2 MCs and insisted on being prescribed progesterone. Used it this time and I’ve had no spotting and am now at 11.5 weeks with a heartbeat detected. I’m convinced it helped. I’ve been told to take it until week 14…
Definitely take it until week 12.

I took the oral progesterone pills. With DS and DD, I was on 200 mg per day and with this bubs I was on 400 mg. I wanted to warn you that progesterone supplements can cause severe drowsiness and dizziness as well as spotting. The spotting seems to be more common with the pessiaries and suppositories as the hormones are going directly to the cervix but I've spotted with the oral meds too. So don't freak out if you do see some discharge. It's quite common with the supplements.

I've had two MCs in the past. Dr never looked into my progesterone. This is my 3rd pregnancy and i had some light spotting around 8w. I went into the dr's for a scan and come to find out my progesterone was low at 14.6 and i had a tear in my placenta. Dr put me on progesterone immediately and luckily i haven't had a problem since. I swear by it and think it's wonderful. I am still taking it. I had a 32 day supply and almost out. I have a Dr appt on Thursday to see if i still need to continue with it as i will be 13w on Friday.

hi, I had 400mg twice daily vaginal pessaries. took them for 1st trimester. My dr prescribed them to help prepare my cervix she said. I had spotting, heavy bleeding too on them. Also told to take low dose of aspirin for 34 weeks. It worked tho!!!

I took vaginal suppositories x2 a day 200mg each until 14 weeks due to bleeding and low progestrone levels (1.0) in early pregancy. From the first week had no more bleeding and am 31 weeks now : ) .
