Hey girls,

I have been literally 'seeing stars' a few times, so I went to the drop-in today and they said I had protein in my urine. I am only 18 weeks so desperately afraid I have the start of pre-eclampsia.

Just wondering if anyone else has had protein in the urine and it been fine, or something less problematic?

I can't get tests until Tuesday, so I am a bit stressed!

:hugs:

i had protein in my urine towards the end of my pregnancy, i even had high blood pressure, i was induced due to this but it still wasnt pre-eclampsyia and i was perfectly fine, they just did it as a caution the midwife said to me that there are other reason to have protein in your urine, do u have any other signs? like seeing flashing lights and high blood pressure? really badly swollen hands and feet? headaches? there all signs of pre-eclampsia aswell.
i wouldnt worry too much cos otherwise the midwife would of been more worried aswell, when u go for your next check it might not even be there! dont panic yourself im sure everything will be fine :)

sorry ive just read u was seeing stars, missed that bit! usless i am lol!
if u keep seeing them then go in and check again, i never had this but its best to check everything xx

seeing stars or dots is a sign of high blood pressure- as are headaches but this sometimes depends on when this all developed. me for example had high bp at a booking appointment, i was around 9 weeks so i dont think that was pre-eclampsia related at all... did you have any signs of blood pressure really early on in the pregnancy????

Thanks for the reply girls. My blood pressure was normal, and I had a consultant appointment on thursday and they checked my wee and didn't say anything. My blood pressure was normal then too. They said my pulse was a little high but they thought that was just because I was nervous. I haven't got swelling, or pains or anything else I found mentioned online.

I am hoping it's just thrush or something simple. The drop in doctor I saw was so through, she checked bubs and my eyes and everything. Maybe she was just being over cautious. I have tried ringing the midwife but sounds like she is off for Easter. I guess I just have to wait for more tests. Thank you :hugs:

i have it alot and had a bladder infection so as long as blood pressure normal i am sure you will be fine..

I have had all the signs of pre-eclampsia for a while now and they said not to worry too much but that I needed regular checks (to check for pre-eclampsia but also due to me having hypertension) until protein was found in my urine. Last Sunday they did find protein in my urine so quickly gave me the pre-eclampsia blood tests and rushed the results though but it came back fine. I was kept in hospital for a few days because of my hypertension but in the past week have had three blood tests, urine tests a few times a day and the rather gross 24 hour urine collection test to check for pre-eclampsia that all came back fine, although the protein was only found in my urine on Sunday and not since.

I had it at 38 weeks, along with high BP (although for me it was my white-coat hypertension) They ran tests and there was nothing wrong with me. in the end they said it must have been some discharge getting into the sample (tmi sorry).

I had my consultant appointment last week and they found protein in my urine but my BP is normal. They didn't seem concerned about it. The nurse did ask if I drink enough water because my urine was a bit concentrated.

i had protein in my urine the whole way through
my pregnancy and other than having to keep trecking
up the hospital to monitored after EVERY mw app lol
i was fine and emily was born a okay

Got an achy tummy today, feels like I am going to come on my period? Maybe that is something connected. Bloody bank holiday means I can't get to the doctors. Grrr!

Had another urine test today and the protein is gone :D So pleased, must have been contaminated too. Only thing is, now I have sugar in my wee so have to go for a few more tests. Fingers crossed it's just all the Easter egg. :hugs:

Glad you are ok. Protein can also be caused by urine infections, which are common in pregnancy or contamination. It doesn't always mean pre eclampsia
