So, about an year ago I went in for an HSG test and was told that while my left tube "seemed" okay, my right tube didn't show up on the screen so it might be blocked. Other facts are that I had bad pain during the test and the doctor said she couldn't insert enough dye in my uterus because I asked her to stop (I guess the doctors in Japan are more gentle than elsewhere). I was wondering how many of us were told their tubes were blocked at the site they meet the uterus and then they were declared fine afterwards. Please feel free to share your experiences.

I had an HSG in July '12 was told bilateral blockage, had a lap/dye in Oct '12 and all clear.

I had a Sonohysterogram and which is the same thing but they put saline solution thru instead of dye. At first she said both were blocked (I almost had a heart attack right there) but then she tried a second time and the left broke free and the right was sort of a grey area. She sent the test to another radiologist type person for a more in depth analysis and although my right one appeared blocked during the exam, they were able to tell that it wasn't actually blocked. The explanation was that since the fluid will flow easily down the path of least resistance the other tube doesn't look like it's flowing sometimes. I also had a lot of pain during mine.

I have been doing some reading on this and in about 40% cases of proximal blockages showing on HSG test, the tubes are actually okay and it is a muscle spasm. however, some women give up ttc completely after getting such results... This test is not as useful as we are told..
